It's been a decent start for new Wolves manager Walter Zenga in his side's opening couple of games of the season.

His side overcame a two goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Rotherham United in their season opener, before beating Crawley Town in the first round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.

The 2-1 win over the Red Devils will give the Italian's side confidence going into a big home game against Reading this weekend who, under Jaap Stam, haven't started too badly themselves.

The Royals have enjoyed successive victories as they bid to surprise a few neutrals and mount their own promotion push in a Championship full of competitive sides.

But it is Wolves who might go into this one as favourites, due to their home advantage and they've got some handy players who could give Stam's new-look Reading some difficulty.

So with that in mind, here's a Wolves starting XI that will beat Reading this weekend.....

GK: Carl Ikeme

ikeme

Nigerian goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is expected to be Wolves' first-team stopper for the majority of the season, unless injuries prevent him from starting games.

A consistent performer, he took over as the top shot-stopper after the club sold Wayne Hennessey.

RB: Conor Coady

Conor CoadyConor Coady

Filled in at right-back against Crawley Town after Dominic Iorfa was suspended following his sending-off against Rotherham United last weekend.

Deputised well in an unfamiliar position and he could return there for the game against Reading this weekend after doing a job against the Red Devils.

CB: Danny Batth

batthhhhh

Batth is entering his seventh first-team season at Wolves and as club captain, we expect him to start most games this season.

He was involved in both the draw last weekend and the game against Crawley and he will make the first-team again this time round.

Has great leadership on the pitch and is defensively sound too.

CB: Kortney Hause

hause

Much like Danny Batth, Kortney Hause has started both of Wolves' two games so far as he attempts to consolidate the centre-back position for the remainder of the season.

New boss Walter Zenga is a big fan of the one time Gillingham loanee and Wolves fans can expect to see a lot of Hause in the future.

LB: Matt Doherty

We expect to see former Republic of Ireland U21 defender Matt Doherty to continue at left-back for Wolves' first home game of the season.

After Stephen Ward's sale to Burnley back in 2014 the chance to get into the first-team arose for Doherty and he looks to be a consistent starter for Zenga this season.

He's a steady defender rather than a rampaging full-back but he is a sound squad player who will do well for Wolves this season.

CDM: Dave Edwards

DAve-edwards-wolves

A big Wolves veteran who has made over 240 appearances for the Molineux side.

He played in both the league and cup game last week, and looks to be a big part of Walter Zenga's team for the entirety of the season.

Edwards is a tough-tackling, high-tempo midfielder who has plenty of experience at this level. Will be looking to disrupt Reading's play in the middle of the park.

CDM: Lee Evans

Lee Evans wolvesd

Not the comedian, but a former Newport County midfielder, Lee Evans might be another player given plenty of first-team opportunities by the new manager.

He spent last season on-loan at Bradford City, making over 35 appearances for the Bantams and has featured twice already for Wolves this season.

Will be keen to continue his good performances going into this weekends' game.

RM/RW: Jed Wallace

wallaceeee

The former Portsmouth winger is another player who brings natural pace to the Wolves flank and he is looking good to start the game after playing 45 minutes in Wolves' two last games.

Will hope to worry the Reading defence with his directness and willingness to attack the full-backs.

CAM/CF: George Saville

saville

Got off to a great start against Rotherham, scoring his first goal of the season to bring the game back to 2-1. Wolves then went onto draw but his performance would have been extremely encouraging for Zenga, who may be relying on Saville for quality quite a bit this season.

The former Chelsea youngster has a big point to prove and after four loan moves, he'll want to settle in this Wolves team this year.

LM/LW: João Teixeira

joão teixeira benfica

Could start out-wide for Wolves this weekend after a promising display against Crawley Town in the week.

He's probably one of the more naturally gifted widemen Zenga has at his disposal and he will be at the club for the whole season after signing from Benfica.

He will be keen to show his skill in the game against Reading and even bag himself a goal or two as well.

ST: Jón Daði Böðvarsson

bodvarssondd

Wolves may have found a real gem in Böðvarsson who, like Saville, started the season very well with a goal against Rotherham.

Lead a rousing "Icelandic clap" at the end of the game with the Wolves supporters who have taken to him extremely well, even in such a short space of time.

But clapping and international success aside, he will be a huge presence upfront for Wolves this season, if he can continue his early signs of promise.
