As the Championship season begun, few had tipped Wolves to upset the books and prove they could be an outside bet of a promotion place this season.

But its been quite the opposite as unknown manager Walter Zenga has led his side to a dream start, reinstating belief in the Black Country that Wolves really could challenge for the top-six this season.

A 2-2 draw on the opening day against Rotherham doesn't sound too exciting, but considering Wolves battled back from two goals down to earn a point, you can firmly justify that as a good result.

They've followed that up with wins against Crawley Town and Reading in the EFL Cup and the League and it seems Zenga is clearly onto something going into his side's next game against Ipswich.

So, with that in mind, here's a Wolves side that we think can do the business against Ipswich Town on Tuesday evening...

GK: Carl Ikeme

ikeme

Wolves hadn't beaten Reading in seven fixtures before this one but goalkeeper Carl Ikeme looked rarely troubled during the 2-0 victory.

The Nigerian shot-stopper had very little to do as his side breezed past Jaap Stam's team in what was billed to be a more difficult game indeed. For him, it will be more of the same please.

RB: Conor Coady

Came into the side after Iorfa's sending-off in their opener and scored the winner for Zenga's men in their EFL win over Crawley Town.

Conventionally a midfielder, has shown his versatility as he covers the gap in the back-four and even with Iorfa back for the game against Reading, he kept his place in the side.

CB: Danny Batth

batthhhhh

A yellow card was the only bad thing the captain took away from Saturday's game, but Wolves' captain looked solid against a forward line that was expected to cause them more problems than they actually did.

Experienced at this level and can be a useful player for them again this season.

CB: Dominic Iorfa

Dominic Iorfamkdld

Was back for the game against Reading and much like Batth, had a pretty comfortable game in the 2-0 win.

He's contracted til the summer of 2019, which is good news for Wolves fans and management alike because there is guaranteed to be some interest in the 20-year-old if his strong performances continue.

LB: Matt Doherty

Matt DohertyMatt Dohertyss

Scored an absolute thunderbolt against Jaap Stam's side on Saturday, and more than deserves to keep his place going into the game against Ipswich Town on Tuesday evening.

We've rarely seen the 24-year-old hit the back of the net in the way he did against the Royals, but if its something he's added to his game, expect him to consolidate his full-back berth even further as the season progresses.

CDM: Dave Edwards

Dave EdwardsDave Edwardsddd

A big Wolves veteran who has made over 240 appearances for the Molineux side.

He's featured and started all three games so far and looks to be a big part of Walter Zenga’s team for the entirety of the season.

Edwards is a tough-tackling, high-tempo midfielder who has plenty of experience at this level. Will be looking to break-up Ipswich's play in the middle of the park.

CDM: Lee Evans

Again, has started all of Wolves' games so far this season and looks a sure-bet to continue against the Tractor Boys on Tuesday.

The former Bradford City loanee is looking to break-into the Wolves side this season and has started well, with Zenga placing his trust in the 22-year-old so far this campaign.

If his good form continues, he'll continue to play in the Wolves first-team.

RM/RW: Joao Teixeira

joão teixeira benfica

Teixeira adds real flair to the Wolves flank and is fast becoming a fan favourite following his loan-move to the club this summer.

His parent side is Benfica, but with the 22-year-old not having made an appearance for their first team, Wolves might fancy their chances of bringing him in permanently at the end of the season.

CAM/CF: George Saville

George Savillemklfcv

Another game and another good performance from George Saville, who is quickly becoming Mr Reliable in this Wolves side. He's a gutsy midfielder who isn't afraid of putting himself about and he adds a real quality to the Wolves team going forward.

Has linked up well with the likes of Teixeira, Bodvarsson and Mason already this season and Zenga will hope his good form continues.

LM/LW: Joe Mason

masonnnnnn

Traditionally a striker, former Cardiff City man Joe Mason has played a little wider in Wolves' opening couple of fixtures but has looked strong.

He's a hard-working player who never stops running and closing down and he's a real work-horse in this Wolves side.

Scored three times after signing in January last season and will hope to better that this time out. Has hit the back of the net against Reading and Crawley already this season.

ST: Jón Daði Böðvarsson

bodvarssondd

The Icelandic striker has quickly become a fan favourite at Molineux, but will be keen to show the supporters he's not just here to lead the famous clap at the end of each game.

Scored on his debut against Rotherham and is expected to start against Ipswich Town. Will be looking to add more goals to his tally as his side target the play-off places.
