Sheffield Wednesday play host to QPR this weekend with Wednesday hoping to pick up three vital points in the hunt for promotion.

While QPR will be looking to build on Tuesday's 1-0 victory over Bristol City.

Wednesday have picked up four points in their last two games including an impressive victory over the early pace setters, Huddersfield.

They followed that up with a point away at Cardiff on Wednesday night, which they will see as a good point.

After last year’s Play-Off heartbreak, Wednesday have dusted themselves down and regrouped over the summer.

The Wednesday boss, Carlos Carvalhal has added some quality to the ranks over the summer in Almen Adbi and Steven Fletcher and kept hold of one of his key players, Tom Lees, amid interest from the Premier League.

Wednesday currently sit just inside the Play-Off spots but they won’t be limiting themselves to a Play-Off spot, they will want to be in the hunt for automatic promotion.

Carvalhal’s men will have this game down as one they need to win to keep up with the top two and given QPR’s poor start to the season, it is one they are expected to win.

If Wednesday play this 4-2-3-1 formation, they will definitely win the game…...

GK: Kieren Westwood

westwoodwestwoodx

Westwood is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship, so the Owls losing him on Wednesday night would’ve been a worry.

Fortunately for Wednesday fans, the injury wasn’t too serious and Carvalhal expects him to play on Saturday.

The Irish keeper arrived at Wednesday from Sunderland and has flourished for the Owls.

Westwood represents Republic of Ireland at international level and has 19 caps so far, with many more likely to come.

He is one of the best shot stoppers in the league and he will keep Wednesday many clean sheets this season.

RB: Liam Palmer

palmerr34

Palmer has been with the Owls for 7 years and he has amassed 129 appearances so far.

Palmer is a versatile player; he can play at right back or in centre midfield but he is mainly being used as a right back by Carvalhal.

With competition for the right back shirt from Jack Hunt, Palmer always has to be on top form to keep his starting spot.

With Wednesday so strong in midfield, Palmer is unlikely to get in there, so needs to keep his spot at right back.

CB: Tom Lees

tom-leestom-leesd

Lees attracted interest from Premier League, Burnley over the summer but he committed himself to Sheffield Wednesday, signing a new long term deal.

The centre half has the makings of a top defender, he puts his body on the line and is also comfortable on the ball, both key attributes for the modern day centre half.

Lees is also a leader and could be vital when it comes to seeing out games and picking up points towards the end of the season, if Wednesday are going to be challenging for promotion.

CB: Sam Hutchinson

Sam Hutchinson

The Chelsea academy graduate, never really made the grade for them, making just five appearances.

He had subsequent loan spells at Nottingham Forest, Vitesse and Sheffield Wednesday, before making the permanent switch to The Owls in 2014.

Hutchinson always plays on the edge and this shows with his disciplinary record.

If he can keep out of the referee’s notebook and avoid suspension, he could be key for Wednesday this season.

His all or nothing approach could be pivotal when defending a lead.

LB: Daniel Pudil

pudil

Pudil spent last season on loan with Sheffield Wednesday and became a fans favourite.

He made the switch permanent in the summer, much to the delight of most Wednesday fans.

Pudil loves to get forward and can supply a great cross into the box, his quality is something that could pay dividends for Wednesday over the course of the season.

He is also quite solid at the back and having come so close to promotion last year with Wednesday, he will be hoping to go one step further this time around.

CM: Barry Bannan

The Scottish midfielder signed for the Owls last summer and has had a big impact since signing, putting in several great performances and he was a key figure in last year's success.

Bannan was left out of their game on Wednesday against Cardiff but is expected to return to the squad, for what is a must win game.

Bannan is a tidy player in midfield and uses the ball well, he has an eye for a killer pass and even scores the odd goal.

CM: Kieran Lee

kieran leed

Lee came through the youth ranks at Manchester United but he left to go and play first team football.

The Owls signed him from Oldham and he has turned out to be a very good signing for them.

Lee loves to get forward and help out the attackers whenever he can and he scores at least a few goals per season.

Lee could score some crucial goals for the Owls this season and if they keep him fit, his partnership with Barry Bannan could keep Wednesday up near the top of the table.

LM: Almen Abdi

almen-abdid

Abdi was a summer arrival from Watford and he provides Wednesday with some more creativity in their attacking areas.

Abdi will create plenty of chances for Gary Hooper this season and if Wednesday are to stay up near the top of the league, scoring goals will be crucial for them.

With Abdi in the team, Wednesday don’t just get creativity, they get hard work too, with Abdi prepared to put a shift in defensively to help out his midfield and full back when needed.

CAM: Fernando Forestieri

forestieriiii

Forestieri signed for the Owls back in 2015 from Watford and was a huge player last year, in what was a great season for Wednesday.

He scored 15 goals last season and got 7 assists, a very good start to his Wednesday career.

Forestieri has represented Italy at youth level, but as of yet, he hasn’t had a call up to the senior squad.

If Wednesday can keep him fit, there is no doubt he will be one of the main reasons behind the Owls' success this season.

He loves to find space in behind the midfield and can run in behind too, giving defenders and midfielders a tough decision to make

RM: Adam Reach

adam-reachadam-reach90

Reach joined the Owls in summer from Middlesbrough.

He spent last season on loan at Preston North End and enjoyed a successful spell there.

Reach has the ability to beat his full back down the left wing and supply a cross into the box, with Gary Hooper on the end of the crosses, Reach could prove to be key for Wednesday this season.

Whilst primarily playing as a winger, Reach can play at full back.

His experience at full back means he will always help out defensively when he plays as a winger

ST: Gary Hooper

hooper9022222

Hooper signed permanently for Sheffield Wednesday in January after impressing during a loan spell for the previous few months.

Hooper was a big part of their success last season, scoring 13 goals, some of which were of huge importance.

Hooper is a good all round striker, he can hold the ball up to bring others into play and run in behind to try and stretch the opposition defence.

If Hooper can find his form from last season, he could fire the Owls to promotion.
