Queens Park Rangers have had a decent start to this season's Championship campaign, and going into their tie against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend, they sit ninth in the table.

A superb 1-0 win over promotion chasers Bristol City in midweek did nothing to dent the growing momentum at Loftus Road, which had been threatened after the allegations made against Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink by the Telegraph newspaper.

But with that now cleared up and the club fully behind their manager, you do get a sneaky suspicion Queens Park Rangers could be a side that will push for the top-six, just as they are doing now.

And with a crunch game against fellow promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday to come this weekend, how should JFH lineup his troops at Hillsborough?

With that in mind, here's our QPR XI that we think has enough to down the Owls at Hillsborough......

GK: Alex Smithies

Alex Smithiesd

Former Huddersfield goalkeeper Alex Smithies has been absolutely fantastic between the sticks for QPR recently, and he made a fantastic save to deny Bristol City's Bobby Reid on Tuesday evening.

It was his reflexes that earned his team a point and he'll be looking to take that form into the game against Wednesday.

RB: James Perch

It's good to see former Newcastle United man James Perch playing well at Queens Park Rangers, after he endured a tough spell at St James' Park.

He's a versatile defender and whilst he might not offer the width and speed of a more modern-day full-back, he's extremely solid and does a real job in the side.

CB: Nedum Onuoha

Captain Nedum Onuoha will start this one no-doubt and if he's on form, Wednesday will find it tough to break through.

The Englishman is one of the more competent centre-backs in this division with his pace and ability to read the game his real strong points.

CB: Steven Caulker

caulker

It feels like Steven Caulker has been around for absolutely ages but in hindsight, he's still on 24-years-old.

In that respect, you've got to give him plenty of credit for what he's achieved in his career so far, and he'll hope to help his side into the top-six come the end of the campaign.

LB: Niko Hamalainen

mitremitrech

After Joel Lynch limped off the pitch in the win against Bristol City earlier this week, first-team responsibilities are likely to fall on the shoulders of 19-year-old Finnish defender Niko Hamalainen.

He only made his debut in the EFL cup earlier this season but after playing nearly an hour in the game against the Robins, Hasselbaink might have no choice but to throw his youngster in at the deep end.

CDM: Ariel Borysiuk

mitremitremitre000222

Ariel Borysiuk has really impressed at Loftus Road after his summer move from Legia Warsaw and as defensive-midfielders come, the 25-year-old is about as good as you get at this level.

He reads the game fantastically well and is quite happy to marshal the defence throughout. A really important player in this Hoops set-up.

CDM: Massimo Luongo

luongo

Australian international midfielder Massimo Luongo is the second player who will anchor this QPR midfield against the Owls, just as he did so well on Tuesday evening.

He and Borysiuk seem to have a real understanding, and the former Swindon Town man is improving week-by-week.

RM: Ben Gladwin

ben gladwinben gladwin

Although primarily a more central midfielder, Ben Gladwin came on just after the 50th minute on Tuesday evening and played well as Idrissa Sylla headed home a 75th minute winner.

He offers a more balanced option on the right hand side of this midfield, something that might suit the U's away from home this weekend.

CF: Conor Washington

conor washingtonconor washington

Northern Ireland international Conor Washington was unlucky not to score against Bristol City after hitting the crossbar, but it was a promising showing for a man that hasn't had quite as many minutes as he would have liked this campaign.

He and his striking partner really pulled the strings on Tuesday evening and he deserves another start this time out as well.

LM: Tjaronn Chery

tjaronn-cherytjaronn-cheryddd

Former Gronigen man Tjaronn Chery had a superb first season in England last time out and he hasn't started this campaign too badly either.

He's played most of his club football in his native Holland but seems to have adapted the the English game with ease, bringing some real pace and directness to the QPR flank.

ST: Idrissa Sylla

sylla

Idrissa Sylla is QPR's go-to striker right now and you have to wonder how stuck they'd be if they hadn't brought him in over the summer.

The former Anderlecht man provides a real outlet upfront with his pace, power and physicality bothering plenty of opponents QPR have faced in the past couple of months.
