After a slow start, Plymouth Argyle are on the back of five wins in a row, and they will look to make it six when the Football League’s bottom club Cambridge United visit Home Park on Saturday.
Winless so far, Cambridge have already lost to Luton Town, Doncaster Rovers and Colchester United, three teams widely expected to be pushing for promotion to League One.
Argyle are expected to be among them and, whilst last weekend they played indifferently, they managed to come away with the points thanks to a Sonny Bradley 92nd minute winner against Cheltenham Town.
The mark of champions some will call it, but their performance will need to improve if they want promotion, and perhaps they have a marker to go by – their 4-1 demolition of Newport County in the EFL Trophy just days before that 1-0 win.
Up to third, only Morecambe (on goal difference) and Luton sit above them, and last year’s play-off finalists will be hoping their great form can keep the pressure on the two sides.
