Nottingham Forest will travel to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City this weekend looking for their first victory in five Sky Bet Championship matches.

The Reds have drawn three and lost twice since beating Leeds United at the City Ground on the 27th August and an improvement in performance is certainly required from Philippe Montanier’s men.

Forest were fortunate to get a point in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Fulham, with the Cottagers wasting several gilt edged chances and also having two goals ruled out by the assistant referee for offside.

The club are currently languishing in 15th place in the Sky Bet Championship and perhaps more alarmingly they have held a lead in all five games since the last international break, yet have not won any of them.

Football League World writer Lee Clarke takes a look at a 4-2-3-1 starting line-up that will see the Reds victorious over Lee Johnson’s Bristol City tomorrow afternoon.

GK - Vladimir Stojkovic

The Serbian giant is turning out to be a real find for Nottingham Forest, after another fine performance against Fulham in midweek.

His first-half stop from Matt Smith’s point blank header was simply incredible and Philippe Montanier looks to have signed a real gem in Stojkovic.

RB – Eric Lichaj

The American defender captained the side on Tuesday night in Henri Lansbury’s absence and it looks as though Lichaj will keep his place in the team on Saturday.

The former Aston Villa man hasn’t found his very best form yet this term and he will hope to put in a better performance at Ashton Gate, with Forest looking for their first shutout of the campaign.

CB – Matt Mills

Mills looks set to be restored to the Reds’ starting line-up this weekend, as Damien Perquis and Michael Mancienne are both rated doubtful.

Mills has looked out of sorts this season defensively and he needs a big performance to reassure the Nottingham Forest fans that he can still be a big part of their future plans.

CB – Thomas Lam

Thomas LamThomas Lam

It is unlikely that Philippe Montanier will risk Perquis or Mancienne this weekend so it could mean a return to the side for Finland defender Lam.

Lam has been absent for the past few weeks with injury and he will need to be on top form this weekend, as he prepares to go up against the in-form Tammy Abraham.

LB – Danny Fox

With Armand Traore still struggling with his fitness it could mean Fox keeps his place in the starting line-up this weekend.

Fox isn’t exactly a fan favourite at the City Ground and the return to fitness of Daniel Pinillos really can’t come soon enough for Forest.

CM – David Vaughan

Welsh midfielder Vaughan has not been featuring too often for Forest this season after a minor injury but he returned to the fold on Tuesday with a performance which saw him named man of the match.

Vaughan was simply superb for Forest last season and it is vital that Montanier sticks with the combative midfielder this weekend.

CM – Chris Cohen

Cohen will be fresh after sitting out of Forest’s 1-1 draw with Fulham on Tuesday night and should return to the side at Bristol City.

Pajtim Kasami has come under fire in recent weeks after some laboured displays and he could be dropped to the bench this weekend, with Cohen set to return to the starting line-up.

AMR – Hildeberto Pereira

The Portuguese winger was left on the bench in midweek with boss Philippe Montanier looking to rest one of his prized assets.

The youngster has adhered himself to the Forest faithful this season with a string of dazzling performances, with the Benfica loanee utilised as both a winger and a right-back so far.

A fit and firing Pereira could be a potential match winner for the Reds this weekend.

AMC – Henri Lansbury

Lansbury’s absence was obvious on Tuesday night and his return will be a welcome boost for Forest at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

It is important that Philippe Montanier uses Lansbury further forward and his goal last week at Sheffield Wednesday proved exactly what he is capable of in the final third of the pitch.

AML – Ben Osborn

Osborn has excelled at Forest this season

They say that form is temporary and class is permanent and that saying is perfect to sum up Ben Osborn at present.

The Forest academy prospect has not been in the best of form lately but Montanier clearly fancies him as a good player and will probably give him another game at Bristol on Saturday on the left-wing.

ST – Nicklas Bendtner

The ex-Arsenal man opened his account for Nottingham Forest in midweek and also cracked the crossbar with a rasping effort in the first-half.

The striker is seemingly getting into his stride now and Forest would be wise to let him continue playing matches as he clearly possesses goals at Championship level.
