Norwich have made a solid start to the season with 5 wins from their opening 8 games and currently sit 2nd in the table.

After last year's relegation they strengthened in attack bringing in talented youngsters such as Sergi Canos, Alex Pritchard plus talented striker Nelson Oliviera.

Norwich have still retained much of the side that gained promotion from the Championship in the 14/15 season and that experience could be crucial if they are to be successful again.

Along with more experienced played like Cameron Jerome and Jonny Howson, they have some excellent youth players mixed in like Josh Murphy and his brother Jacob who have both made excellent starts to the season.

Their home games with newly promoted Burton must be seen as great chance to win, and with the chance to go top lingering, they need no more motivation......

4-2-3-1 is the formation manager Alex Neil had adopted recently and this is how Norwich should line-up on Saturday....

GK - Michael McGovern

The relatively unknown Michael McGovern was one of the stars of the Euros for Northern Ireland, performing excellently against Germany to keep the score down and help them make the round of 16.

McGovern has played mostly in Scotland, and played under Alex Neil at Hamilton and the 32-year-old is certainly experienced with over 300 career appearances.

At the moment he has been solid between the sticks keeping John Ruddy a former England international out of the team.

LB - Martin Olsson

martin olssonmkl

The Swede has established himself over the years making over 100 appearances for Norwich, after his move from Blackburn where he had also made over 100 appearances.

He played 45 times in the 14/15 season when Norwich gained promotion forming a crucial partnership with Nathan Redmond and has gone from strength to strength.

The Swedish international doesn't have much competition for the position, with only Robbie Brady used there but he is more of an attacking player.

RB - Ivo Pinto

Pinto

Ivo Pinto was one of Alex Neil's better buys last season when he bought the right back in from Dinamo Zagreb.

Pinto was described as an athletic defender who is excellent defensively, but also contributed to attacks and fans feel he has nailed down the starting berth ahead of Steven Whittaker, who is exposed against players with pace.

The former Portuguese youth is already a fan favourite and could be a big fixture in years to come.

CB - Timm Klose

Timm Klose

Norwich have plenty of options at centre back with Sebastian Bassong, Michael Turner and Russell Martin more experienced at this level than Klose.

But when Norwich were struggling defensively in the league and Bassong was being exposed, Klose came in and made a big impact.

The 6 foot 4 centre back put some dominating displays in after his arrival from Wolfsburg and cemented his starting place winning numerous accolades.

CB - Ryan Bennett

Competition for the second centre back position is far more competitive with a number of different players used.

But Bennett seems to of built an understanding with Klose, and their partnership is definitely the most solid.

The 26-year-old fell out of favour in the last Championship season with Bassong and Martin preferred.

CM - Alex Tettey

Alex Tetteyd

The Norwich midfielder suffered ankle ligament damage last season but has recovered and will play a big part this season for Norwich.

Whilst he may have to share the role with Graham Dorrans, fans have favoured his performances more with the Norwegian international more consistent and protecting the defence better.

He was crucial to their promotion in 2015 and has a lot of Premier League experience.

Dorrans will provide good cover but Tettey is the better player.

CM - Jonny Howson

Jonny Howsond

One of the first names on the team sheet must be Jonny Howson who has been a regular first team player since joining from Leeds in 2011.

Howson was one of their better players in the Premier League last year scoring 3 and getting numerous assists being voted there Player of the Season.

Howson has made nearly 150 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals.

LM - Robbie Brady

The Republic of Ireland international is one of the best attacking players in the Championship, having been one of the brighter sparks for Norwich in their relegation last season.

The 24- year-old joined from Hull and scored 3 goals in 36 games but always looked dangerous on the wings delivering excellent crosses.

Brady is quick too and can play at left back or on the right hand side but his best position is here linking up with the full backs supplying Jerome.

CAM - Wes Hoolahan

Hoolahandfg

One of Brady's Irish counterparts Wes Hoolahan is next on the list and has been a massive player for club and country in recent years.

Hoolahan has played for Norwich regularly in League 1 and the Premier League helping them win promotion on 3 different occasions.

Hoolahan's tricky feet and pace hasn't dwindled much at the age of 34 and he has already made an excellent start this season.

His experience will be crucial this season whilst Alex Pritchard will learn a lot from him.

RM - Jacob Murphy

jacob-murphydd

Jacob and his brother Josh have been outstanding for Norwich in the Championship so far, with the 2 academy products becoming first team contenders.

Jacob Murphy is their joint top scorer with the 21-year-old bagging 3 goals in 5 games.

Murphy is incredibly quick and seems like a good replacement for Redmond but he is better at cutting in from the flank.

Whilst he will be pushed hard by Canos for the position, his form makes him unmovable from the starting XI.

ST - Cameron Jerome

cameron-jeromeddds

The ever reliable Cameron Jerome will most likely start up front, with the experienced forward making a good start to the season with 3 goals.

The 30-year-old is not good enough for the Premier League but his 18 goals in the 14/15 season shows how vital he is to the Canaries, and with few other options, Jerome will be first choice.

It may be nice to see Oliviera get a chance though as his greater pace would make him a better fit for the players behind him.
