Alex Neil's Norwich side started their league campaign in the best possible way on Saturday - brushing aside Blackburn Rovers 4-1 in a relatively easy afternoon at Ewood Park for the Canaries.

It was a return to familiar territory for the Norfolk side, after their brief stint in English footballs premier division last time out.

Although it was an impressive start to the season and the result shouldn't be overlooked - it is undeniable that Blackburn are one of the weaker sides lining up in the Sky Bet Championship this campaign.

The real tests start this Saturday, as Carrow Road plays host to Sheffield Wednesday - who like Norwich got their season off to the perfect start on the opening weekend.

Carlos Carvalhal's side edged Championship newcomers Aston Villa, thanks to an 85th minute winner from Italian star Fernando Forestieri.

The play-off bridesmaids will undoubtedly give Alex Neil's side a competitive game this weekend, as both sides look to make it two wins from two in the new campaign.

Between two closely matched sides, the selection and formation used by both managers could prove pivotal. In this article, Football League World writer Jack Sharp looks at a Norwich side (lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation) that is capable of beating Sheffield Wednesday in the forthcoming round of EFL fixtures.

GK: John Ruddy

Ruddy has been at Norwich since 2010, and has so far made 216 appearances during his tenure at the club.

His place in the Canaries' side came under strict scrutiny last season - and as a result of his poor form the England international saw his place in between the sticks at Carrow Road otherwise occupied, by 25-year-old Declan Rudd.

However, Rudd has now moved on loan to Russell Slade's Swindon side; this combined with the fact that Ruddy started on Saturday would suggest that he has reestablished himself as Alex Neil's number one 'keeper.

RB: Ivo Pinto

Pinto arrived at Carrow Road in January of this year, joining on a three-year deal from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.

The Portuguese international is likely to be competing with Scotsman Steven Whittaker for the right back place in Alex Neil's side, however Pinto did beat long serving Whittaker to the right back position for the EFL opener on Saturday.

It also helped his cause for a starting position that he contributed to a goal on his debut, the 6' full back assisted Wes Hoolahan for Norwich's second goal last weekend.

CB: Timm Klose

Timm Klose

Norwich's defensive record last term perhaps proved pivotal in their demise last season, as they conceded 69 goals - the second worst in the whole division.

However, Alex Neil shows that he still has faith in his defence, as all five players that started on Saturday were present at the club last term.

The Scotsman seems to feel as if his defence is good enough to thrive in the Championship; Austrian Klose started on Saturday - and with the exceptional performance of the team you wouldn't expect too many changes for tomorrow's encounter.

CB: Ryan Bennett

Bennett joined Klose in the centre of defence on Ewood Park - and it would be expected that the former England U21 international will retain his place for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday evening.

The 6' 2" centre back joined Norwich from Peterborough back in 2012, and since then has made 83 appearances for the Canaries', scoring two goals for the club.

With the attacking talent that Wednesday possess, the defence will have to be on top form if Norwich are to win this game.

LB: Martin Olsson

With Irishman Robbie Brady not fit enough to play, it is likely that Olsson will resume his role in the left back position for Saturday's match.

Olsson joined Norwich back in 2013, and has made 110 appearances for the Norfolk side, scoring 3 and assisting 10 during this time.

The 28-year-old Swedish international is rich in talent, and is a constant menace to the opposition on the left flank.

CM: Jonny Howson

Jonny HowsonJonny Howson

Howson is an absolute anchor for Norwich, and has been a great player for the club since he joined from Leeds in 2012.

On Saturday, the former England U21 international made his 150th appearance in a Norwich shirt, and at only 28 years of age he undoubtedly possesses the capabilities to make a lot more.

CM: Yousouf Mulumbu

Youssouf Mulumbuf

With Norwegian stalwart Alex Tettey sustaining an injury at Ewood Park last weekend, it would seem likely that the vastly experienced Mulumbu will replace him in the Canaries' line up in just under a days time.

The Congolese midfielder was brought in last summer by Alex Neil to add Premier League experience to his newly promoted squad, however the physically commanding midfielder missed 14 games of the campaign through injury - and when he did regain fitness he found it hard to break into the squad, only making 10 appearances last term.

However, he has a proven pedigree in the Championship making 41 appearances in the division, scoring 3 goals and perhaps crucially to this Norwich side he has secured promotion out of the league, achieving the feat as part of the West Brom squad of 2009/10.

RM: Sergi Canós

The transfer of Sergi Canós is one that will surely be exciting all Canaries' fans, as the Spaniard arrived earlier this summer on a four-year deal from Premier League and Merseyside giants Liverpool.

Canós, who could be seen as a replacement for departed Norwich star Nathan Redmond, looked to be heading south to join Lee Johnson's Bristol City side earlier this summer - however Norwich did end up securing the services of the Spain U19 international - and what a player he could be this season for the club.

Canós showed during a loan spell with Championship side Brentford that he possesses the quality to be a great player in the league.

He didn't appear at Ewood Park last weekend - however tomorrow could be the perfect time to make his competitive bow in a Norwich shirt.

CAM: Wes Hoolahan

Hoolahandfg

Hoolahan has been a stalwart in Norwich's side for over eight years now, making a commendable 285 appearances for the Norfolk based side during this time.

Although the Republic of Ireland international is getting on a bit at 34 years of age, he undoubtedly still possesses the ability and knowhow to be a key player for Alex Neil this term - as he proved by netting a goal in the season opener last weekend.

LM: Alex Pritchard

Pritchard joined Norwich on a four-year deal from Tottenham earlier this window, and looks to be one of the signings of the summer in the EFL.

The former England U21 international was set to join Norwich's Sky Bet Championship rivals Brighton - however when Pritchard was reportedly in traffic on the way to finalise his move to the Seagulls', Alex Neil swooped and soon after secured his man.

Possessing a wealth of talent and skill, the very versatile Pritchard could definitely be a menace to Wednesday on the left flank tomorrow evening.

ST: Cameron Jerome

Cameron JeromeCameron Jerome

Although he had a poor season last term, Jerome certainly still possesses the qualities to be a prolific forward at Championship level.

He was essential in Norwich's promotion side of 2014/15, as he netted 21 times in a campaign which culminated in a goal in the play-0ff final for the 29-year-old.

Jerome got this season off to the perfect start too, as he netted in the league opener last time out.

So.. Norwich fans, would this team win tomorrow? Do you have confidence in this side? Will Pritchard/Canos start?
