It has been an encouraging start to the 2016/17 Championship for Alex Neil and his Norwich side after their relegation from the Premier League last season, with the club currently sitting in 2nd place after three league games.

Two wins and a draw have seen the Canaries remain unbeaten in the league, with their relegation not looking as if it has caused too much of a hangover just yet.

Their latest challenge comes in the form of an early season local derby against their arch rivals Ipswich at Portman Road on Sunday.

Anything less than a win in this game could see the mood quickly turn from a positive buzz to a negative drone amongst the Carrow Road faithful, such is the nature of this fiery derby.

Football League World writer Steve Day selects the players he thinks can get the win for Norwich in this highly-anticipated East Anglian clash, using the favoured 4-2-3-1 utilised by Neil so far this season.

GK: John Ruddy

The number one spot is not up for debate.

Ruddy has held the position for a number of seasons now and that doesn't appear to be changing in the early part of this campaign.

The 29-year old has made over 200 league appearances for the Canaries and he should extend that this season.

A fantastic stopper to have at this level.

DR: Ivo Pinto

Pinto

The Portuguese right-back was a main stay through the Portuguese youth international set-up and established himself as a prominent member of Dinamo Zagreb's side over the last three seasons.

He moved to Norwich in January but struggled to remove club captain Russell Martin from the right back role.

However, Martin's injuries this season have opened up an opportunity for the 26- year old and he has snatched it with both hands.

DL: Martin Olsson

Despite links with a move away, Martin Olsson shows little sign of letting speculation get to him.

An accomplished individual at this level and will continue to start if he is fit, something that could be quite the coup for the Canaries.

DC: Timm Klose

Timm Klose

The signing of Klose was almost a game-changer for Norwich last season.

He arrived during the January transfer window and played a key role in stabilising a Canaries defence that was leaking goals left, right, and centre.

Their defensive record towards the end of the season was almost enough to save them from the drop, though the Swiss' injury proved a key loss.

He will be a huge player at Championship level.

DC: Ryan Bennett

bennett

Former England Under-21 international Bennett has struggled to seal down a regular starting spot at Norwich since his move from Peterborough back in 2012.

He has only made 59 league appearances for the club over the past five seasons but four of those have been in the top flight.

At Championship level, Neil has so far backed Bennett to partner Klose at the back and it is a partnership that has done well so far.

DM: Alexander Tettey

Alex Tetteyd

The Norwegian international is likely to give Neil an added bite in midfield, boasting the kind of physicality that could be key in a derby match of this magnitude.

DM: Jonny Howson

howson

Club vice-captain Howson has been a pivotal part of the Norwich set-up over the past four seasons.

His regular starting berth has seen him praised for his leadership in the middle of the park and it was his winning goal in mid-week that saw the Canaries keep up their good form.

AMR: Sergi Canos

Sergi CanosSergi Canos

Canos comes to Norfolk with an aura of excitement surrounding him.

As a former Spain Under-19 international he is clearly talented, though at just 19- years old he is still learning his way.

Neil has tempered expectations over the former Liverpool midfielder, wanting more from the talented teen.

If he's on his game, the sparkling Spaniard could be crucial.

AML: Robbie Brady

Despite his Euro 2016 exploits, Robbie Brady will be lining up in the Championship.

Having managed to ward off Premier League interest in the 24-year old, his versatility will be key in the arduous campaign ahead of them.

AMC: Wes Hoolahan

Wes Hoolahan

The role behind the striker is a berth hotly contested amongst the Norwich players, with the likes of Steven Naismith and Alex Pritchard also in contention.

However, Wes Hoolahan's range of passing is likely to bring the best out of the two flying wingers either side of him.

FC: Cameron Jerome

While not the most prolific at Premier League level, Cameron Jerome has constantly impressed in the Championship.

Perhaps it is his level, though the former Stoke City man's presence as the focal point of attack has proved as a solid attacking outlet in the second tier before.
