The hugely anticipated match that the county of Suffolk has been waiting for will commence this Sunday, as Ipswich Town face off against neighbours Norwich City.

Ipswich have had a steady start to their Championship campaign as they sit in 13th place on 4 points in their opening 3 games of the new season.

The Trotters will be out for revenge for the Canaries after the two sides clashed in the play-off semi-finals 15 months ago, with Norwich defeating their neighbours.

Although Norwich’s return to the Championship has got off to a great start, that goes completely out the window in an arch rivalry clash.

Portman Road is expected to be a sell-out, and the fans will be looking to get one over on their East-Anglian neighbours

Ipswich boss, Mick McCarthy will be looking for his side to replicate their performance against Wolves in their previous game, and is not expected to make many changes.

Football League World Writer, Ashley Williams predicts the Ipswich line-up that will beat Norwich on Sunday.....

GK – Bartosz Bialkowski

His penalty save for Ipswich on Tuesday night would have done his confidence the world of good, and he certainly was the man that earned them a point with two crucial saves.

He is one of those players that suffered at the hands of the Canaries during their May 2015 play-off defeat, and he will be looking for his back-four to hold their own against Norwich’s attacking talent.

LB – Jonas Knudsen

Jonas Knudsen99

The Danish defender has done very well during his first moments in an Ipswich Town shirt.

Knudsen played well on Tuesday night and certainly doesn’t look out of his depth in the Championship.

He got the better of his opponents and was extremely supportive when getting forward.

CB – Adam Webster

Despite his clumsy challenge to give away the penalty, the central defender had a fairly solid game against Wolves and looks to be another excellent coup from Mick McCarthy.

He wins headers, he shows for the ball and then carry’s it forward - feeding it into the teams creative players.

The young defender could significantly develop alongside his centre half partner Christophe Berra, who is vastly experienced in the East Anglican derby.

CB – Christophe Berra

The experienced centre back will be looking to nurture his fellow defenders, in what is a massive game for the Trotters.

He will be aiming for the Canaries visit to Portman Road to be extremely uncomfortable.

Berra was sent-off for handling the ball on the line in their play-off defeat and he will be looking to be the hero rather than the villain this time around.

RB – Luke Chambers

Chambers is an extremely important player for the Trotters, who enjoys roaming on a big pitch.

Him and Knudsen will be looking to overlap constantly to put the pressure on the Norwich back-line.

The captain will need to organise and make sure his team mates get in the faces of their opponents.

Ipswich have a solid unit of players who know the importance of this Championship clash.

CM – Teddy Bishop

Bishop is a calming influence for other players, he plays with a steady head and composed manner.

He does sometimes try and get forward, but he will be looking to stay compact alongside Skuse to make sure nothing gets through them.

CM – Cole Skuse

Cole SkuseCole Skuse

Skuse is severely underrated in Ipswich’s squad and should certainly be praised more for his efforts.

On Tuesday night, he covered broad amounts of ground and stood up to Wolves when they came on the attack.

His calmness on the field allows his other players to play and get forward.

McCarthy will be looking for the 30-year old to break up play and make sure players such as Wes Hoolahan don’t get time on the ball.

LAM – Jonathan Douglas

Many of the supporters felt that Douglas had his best game in a Town shirt, so far and that will only spur him to continue developing.

The 33-year-old joined the Blues on a free transfer from Brentford, signing a one-year deal.

He has a vast amount of experience in the Championship and he could prove to be a pivotal player for the Trotters on Sunday.

CAM – Freddie Sears

sears

Sears on his day can be an excellent Championship forward, who always looks to get into pockets of space.

On Tuesday, he worked a series of incisive runs and drilled several balls into dangerous areas of the penalty box on Tuesday night.

Mick McCarthy will be looking for a replication of his positive performance from this week.

RAM – Grant Ward

Grant WardGrant Ward

Ward’s Ipswich career has got off to a flying start after bagging a hat-trick in their first victory of the season against Barnsley on the opening day.

He looks extremely sharp and lively and could be Ipswich’s main force of attack.

The 21-year-old winger made the switch to Portman Road in the summer for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal, and has already beaten his goal tally from last season after netting twice on loan with Rotherham United.

ST – Daryl Murphy

The Ipswich talisman will surely be disappointed with his goal being ruled offside on Tuesday against Wolves, when replays suggest he was onside.

That disallowed goal is surely going to make him hungrier to get on the scoresheet against the Trotters’ arch rivals.

He will be looking to use his considerable frame to cause problems for Norwich’s centre half’s, and will want his midfielders to feed him into goal-scoring opportunities to take advantage of his deadly finishing.
