To say Cardiff City's Championship tie against Leeds United this weekend is massive is an absolute understatement.

After a horrendous 3-0 away defeat to Preston North End in the week, Paul Trollope has a real job on his hands to turn around the fortunes of the Bluebirds, even though we're just seven games into the new season.

They've not started well at all and have only picked up one win and two draws from their opening fixtures.

Something isn't quite right at the Cardiff City stadium and teams have been able to take points from them pretty easily so far this campaign.

Leeds United will be no pushovers and will be slightly more confident after their win over Blackburn Rovers, which gave them and manager Garry Monk a much needed three points.

But Cardiff aren't at all lacking in quality and we're tipping them to do the business over the Whites in Wales this weekend, infront of the Sky Sports cameras.

So with that in mind, here's our Cardiff City XI that will beat Leeds United in the early Saturday kick-off...

GK: Ben Amos

Ben Amos

First team regular Ben Wilson had a night to forget at Deepdale and was at fault after fumbling before allowing Tom Clarke to put the Lilywhites ahead.

He was also booked so we've chosen to give Ben Amos a chance in goal.

He featured heavily for Bolton Wanderers last season and should provide good cover after Wilson's poor performance in the week.

RB: Lee Peltier

Was a real stalwart in the Bluebirds back-four last season and he's one that hasn't been horrendous, despite a poor start.

Will be looking to try and use his thirteen years of Football League experience to get the Bluebirds back to winning ways.

Stuart Dallas will provide a threat for Leeds though, and he'll have to stay alert.

CB: Sean Morrison

Club captain Sean Morrison needs to be the example as Paul Trollope's side look to avoid getting sucked into an early relegation scrap.

The former Huddersfield Town man has plenty of know-how at this level and he'll be looking to keep the likes of Chris Wood quiet at the Cardiff City stadium.

CB: Bruno Ecuele Manga

mangamangamanga

Gabonese international Bruno Ecuele Manga is a tough cookie and is now in his third year with the Bluebirds.

He's been a mainstay in Trollope's side so far this season but needs to tighten up if he's to avoid conceding more goals.

LB: Jazz Richards

Again, we're having no difficulty switching this side up after the poor defeat to Preston on Tuesday evening.

We'd like to see Jazz Richards come in at full-back.

He's got quite the affinity with Wales having spent six years with Swansea City earlier in his career, but he'll still be out to prove Bluebirds supporters he's the man to hold down a full-back spot for the rest of the season.

CDM: Peter Whittingham

whittingham

A real Cardiff stalwart, if there is one man who knows how to get Bluebirds supporters back onside, it's this man.

He started the game on the bench against Preston but quickly came on for the second half as Emyr Huws got overran.

Settled things down but will be looking to bounce back for this one.

Always a threat from set-pieces.

CDM: Aron Gunnarsson

Aron Gunnarssondlp

Much like Whittingham, Gunnarsson knows the ropes at Cardiff as much as anyone else as he enters his sixth season with the club.

He's a hard-working, tenacious midfield player who likes to get in and break up the opposition play.

Expect him to try and keep the likes of Liam Bridcutt quiet this weekend, who can be a real danger when in-form.

RM/RW: Craig Noone

Craig NooneCraig Noone

Craig Noone has pace, directness and is full of running and we'd like him to start the game against Leeds.

The Whites have pacy wingers on both of their flanks in Sacko and Dallas so we reckon the best way for Trollope to set up is with a couple of direct wingers of his own.

CAM/CF: Frédéric Gounongbe

gounongbed

We're still waiting to see the best from summer signing Frédéric Gounongbe, who joined from Belgian outfit Westerlo this summer.

He brings plenty of metal to the side and enjoyed a good couple of seasons in the Pro League, scoring 22 in 47 appearances.

If Trollope wants to get his side playing, he'll need to rotate.

Cardiff have been figured out on numerous occasions already this season.

LM/LW: Anthony Pilkington

anthony-pilkingtonanthony-pilkingtond

Pilkington had a quiet game by his standards on Tuesday evening and he'll be looking to bring a more attacking edge to the Cardiff team for the game against Leeds.

He has plenty of experience at this level and he'll fancy his chances running at Leeds full-back Luke Ayling, who has looked a little shaky since joining from Bristol City this summer.

ST: Rickie Lambert

Rickie Lambert

A deadline day signing for Cardiff, Rickie Lambert has plenty of work to do in order to remind us of how good he once was.

Now 34, he does have goals in him but seriously needs to discover his goalscoring touch.

His form might dictate how Cardiff's season finishes up in a few months time.
