Leeds United will be looking to put last season's disappointment under Garry Monk behind them, with new head coach Thomas Christiansen looking to guide the Whites to a top-six finish next campaign.

The Yorkshire club will travel to the Macron Stadium on August the 6th, to encounter a Bolton Wanderers side high on confidence following their promotion from League One last term.

It will be very interesting to see Christiansen's first game pans out, and more importantly, how his new signings will perform in an environment that some are yet to experience in their playing career.

Here, FLW writer George Harbey names the potential Leeds United starting XI to face Bolton Wanderers on the opening weekend of the 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship campaign...

GK: Felix Wiedwald

Christiansen recently pounced to make the German shot-stopper his second signing at the helm of the Yorkshire club.

The former Werder Bremen goalkeeper was in high demand at the back end of last season.

The 27-year-old made over 59 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.

RB: Luke Ayling

Ayling was a revelation at Leeds last term, and has been a solid figure in a very strong Leeds defence; he is likely to keep his place ahead of next season.

The 25-year-old joined the club from Bristol City over the summer for a fee of around £750,000 and has found himself right at home at the club, forming a strong bond with fans over social media and become a strong fans favourite.

CB: Matthew Pennington

We expect Pennington to start in place of Pontus Jansson, who's been suspended for two matches.

CB: Liam Cooper

Cooper was in and out of the starting 11 last term, due to the outstanding performances that Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley put in at the back for Leeds last term.

With a move for Bartley looking unlikely to materialise this summer though, Christiansen must look to turn to Cooper as Jansson's defensive partner.

The 25-year old has made over 70 appearances for Leeds in his 3 year stint with the club.

LB: Gaetano Berardi

Berardi is a popular figure among the Leeds United fans, and we expect him to start against Bolton.

CDM: Liam Bridcutt

More of a holding midfielder, Bridcutt signed for Leeds permanently after a failed spell at Sunderland.

The 28-year old has emerged as a strong leader at the club, and will surely be someone who Christiansen probably points out to younger players as setting a strong example of maturity and leadership, as well looking for guidance of the division himself.

CDM: Vurnon Anita

Leeds have recently confirmed the signing of Vurnon Anita; a shrewd signing to say the least.

The 28-year-old, who can operate in a range of positions, played 27 times for the Magpies last season as they won the Sky Bet Championship title and he brings some experience of winning promotion to Elland Road.

During his spell at Newcastle United, Vurnon Anita managed over 150 games in black and white after joining the club in 2012 from Ajax.

RM: Pablo Hernandez

After initially signing for the Whites on loan, Pablo Hernandez made his move to Elland Road permanent in January after a successful season with the club, picking up six goals and eight assists.

The 32-year-old will be an important player for Leeds next season, and his creative influence is certainly an enormous advantage at this level, with his ability to play either in the hole or out wide.

CAM: Samuel Saiz

We expect to see Christiansen's new signing Samuel Saiz play just behind the striker against Bolton.

LM: Kemar Roofe

Roofe could be in line for a start on the left for the Whites against Bolton.

ST: Chris Wood

The driving force of Leeds' promotion push last season, keeping Chris Wood at Leeds United will undoubtedly be the best piece of business that Christiansen conducts this summer.

He netted 30 times in all competitions this season and finished as the divisions top scorer which will no doubt lead to interest from the Premier League this summer.

With Leeds looking to reignite another promotion surge next season, Wood will be the spearhead of their operations.

So...what do you think Leeds fans? Could this be the starting XI to face Bolton? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
