Leeds have shocked many this season with their flying start, which has left them in sixth place, a great start for a team who struggled last season.

Garry Monk took over at Elland Road in the summer and he has done a splendid job so far to get Leeds into the Play-Offs, but he won’t be content with that, he will be aiming higher.

Last time out, Leeds stunned Norwich, producing a scintillating display to snatch all three points deep into injury time.

This result, away at a fellow promotion chaser, made everyone sit up and take notice of Leeds, that they are a genuine promotion contender.

However, Leeds will have to prove their promotion credentials again on Saturday, as they take on a Newcastle side who have won their last seven games.

Leeds will believe that they can beat anyone at Elland Road and they go into the game full of confidence after their result at Norwich.

If Leeds play this 4-2-3-1 formation, they will beat Newcastle on Sunday…...

GK: Rob Green

robert greenrobert greensssss

The former England international had a shaky start this season, but he has since proved to be vital for Leeds so far.

Green is a great shot stopper and if Leeds are to stay in the Play-Offs, he will be key for them.

Green is likely to be busy on Sunday, meaning he will play a key role in the outcome of the game.

If Green can bring his top form and keep Leeds in the game, they would have enough up top to take all three points.

RB: Luke Ayling

aylingayling000ssss

Ayling has deputised at right back for the injured Gaetano Berardi and it was widely thought that when Berardi came back, he would displace Ayling, but that hasn’t been the case.

Ayling has produced some fine performances to retain the starting right back role.

Ayling is solid defensively which has contributed to Leeds improved defensive performances this season.

He also has the quality to get forward and provide Chris Wood with some service too, he is a well-rounded full back.

CB: Pontus Jansson

jansson00

Jansson is currently on loan at Elland Road and Leeds would love to make his move permanent, after he has produced some fantastic performances, to make him a key figure in the Leeds defence.

Jansson will be key if Leeds are to succeed this season, his defensive work provides Leeds with a solid base to build on.

Jansson will be key in deciding the outcome of Sunday's game as he will have a huge task on his hands to keep Aleksandar Mitrovic quiet.

If he can do this, then Leeds are in with a big chance of winning.

CB: Kyle Bartley

bartleybartley

Bartley joined Leeds in the summer on loan from Swansea City and he has slotted seamlessly into the heart of the Leeds defence alongside Pontus Jansson, forming a solid partnership.

Bartley is well known by Monk from his days at the Welsh club, so it came as no surprise to many when Monk brought him in.

Bartley will have to be on top form come Sunday and be switched on to any Newcastle runners in behind.

LB: Charlie Taylor

charlie-taylorcharlie-taylord

The Leeds United left back is highly rated at Elland Road and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, after seemingly stalling over a new contract with Leeds.

Taylor has everything required for the modern day full back; he can bomb up and down the left wing, delivering crosses into the box and then getting back into position.

He will have to show his defensive qualities on Sunday, when he comes up against Matt Ritchie, a tough task for the young left back, but something he is definitely up to.

CM: Eunan O’Kane

eunan-okaneeunan-okaneeunan-okane

O’Kane joined Leeds in the summer from Bournemouth and he has made himself a regular in the Leeds midfield.

O’Kane is prepared to work hard for the team as well as being able use the ball very well.

O’Kane will have his work cut out on Sunday, as he and his centre midfield partner will be coming up against one of the most formidable partnerships in the league.

The midfield battle will be crucial in deciding Sunday’s game, if Leeds can win the midfield, they should win the game.

CM: Kalvin Phillips

kalvin-phillipskalvin-phillipsdddd

Phillips was a relatively unknown quantity before the beginning of the season, but Monk has given him a starting chance and he has certainly repaid his faith, producing some top class performances in the midfield.

Phillips will be tasked with keeping an eye on Newcastle’s attacking midfielder on Sunday, if he can keep a close eye on where he is going, an nullify his threat, then Phillips can take a lot of plaudits if Leeds are to win.

RW: Hadi Sacko

hadi-sackoss

Sacko is on loan at Elland Road for the season and Leeds would love to make the move permanent, but it would come at a cost, maybe a bit out of Leeds price range.

The tricky winger poses a huge threat for Leeds going forward, his pace and guile could carve out numerous chances for Chris Wood, and if Sacko can provide the Kiwi striker with the chances, he will prove to be pivotal on Sunday.

CAM: Pablo Hernandez

hernandezzzz

Hernandez is another Leeds loanee who has impressed so far.

The winger joined Leeds from Al-Arabi SC and he made an immediate impact at Leeds, scoring a couple of important goals early into his loan spell.

Hernandez may operate in an attacking midfield role on Sunday, and this is somewhere that he could be very effective.

He is very good at finding space and if he can do this on Sunday, behind the Newcastle midfield and drive at The Magpies defence, he could be key play for Leeds.

LW: Kemar Roofe

kemar-roofe00999s

Roofe joined Leeds in the summer from Oxford United, in what was a big transfer for a player who had just come out of League Two.

Roofe had a shaky start to his Leeds career but he now seems to be adapting to life at Elland Road.

Roofe has largely operated out wide for Leeds this season, which probably isn’t his best position but he has still done well.

Roofe will be in for a tough afternoon on Sunday, he will have to be switched on defensively to track Yedlin up and down the wing.

ST: Chris Wood

wood542

The New Zealand international has been in fine form for Leeds this season and he finally seems to have found his feet at Elland Road, after a slow start last season.

Wood is great at holding the ball up, but he is more than just a target man, he can run in behind to, making him quite a well-rounded striker.

If Wood can continue his goal scoring form against Newcastle, he will most likely be the match winner for Leeds, in what would be a huge win for them.
