Birmingham take on Swansea City tonight looking for their first win of the season after enduring what has been a very tough summer.

The West Midlands club’s problems with FFP have been well-documented and it has severely impacted Garry Monk in terms of recruitment.

However, those restrictions were eased somewhat in the past few weeks and he has been able to bring in the likes of Lee Camp, Connor Mahoney and Omar Bogle to provide more depth to what was a thin squad.

And, after decent performances against Norwich and Middlesbrough, that have only brought one point, Monk will want his side to take all three tonight.

With Craig Gardner suspended and Cheikh N’Doye having since departed since the trip to Teesside, the manager will have to make changes against his former club.

Here we look at the XI he should go with at St. Andrew’s tonight...

The experienced stopper signed to play after Monk went with youngster Connal Trueman for the opener.

Whether he is good enough is debatable but the former Derby man will get the nod.

Colin is a fine full-back at this level and is certain to start against the Swans. He will look to get forward to help the side in the final third too.

The big defender has established himself as a regular under Monk and will start.

Similarly, Dean is proven at this level and provides Blues with a solid base at the back.

The left-back joined in the summer and will start again. He will also look to get forward, offering width and quality on the ball.

The defensive midfielder missed out against Boro but with Monk low on numbers in the middle he has to start tonight.

Similarly, new loan signing Gardner will benefit from his brother’s suspension and will look to make an immediate impact having crossed the Second City.

The former Brentford man has the quality to excel at this level but it hasn’t really happened for him at St. Andrew’s. However, Monk will keep faith with him and hope that he comes good tonight.

Adams is another with real technical quality combined with pace and power and will be a major threat.

The quick winger has been a star performer in the past 12 months and will look to run at the Swansea defence tonight.

The target man should just get the nod ahead of Bogle and will be the focal point in this side, looking to bring others into play.
