Nottingham Forest welcome Cardiff City to the City Ground on Saturday evening, in what is an important game for both sides as they look to move away from the bottom half of the table.

The Reds' defeat at struggling Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night was disappointing in a number of ways with Philippe Montanier's side unable to build on their fine 3-1 victory over Birmingham City, as well as losing a number of important players through injury or suspension.

Montanier will be forced to make a number of changes to his squad though his side certainly have a squad capable of getting a good result on Saturday evening, against a good Cardiff City side who are stronger since the arrival of Neil Warnock a couple of weeks ago.

Here is the Nottingham Forest side that will defeat Cardiff City on Saturday......

GK - Vladimir Stojkovic

The pressure is building on the Serbian international who is still without a clean sheet all season.

Nonetheless, Stojkovic has had some fantastic performances for Forest this season and is comfortably the number one goalkeeper ahead of Stephen Henderson at the moment.

The 33-year-old will be desperate to keep his first clean sheet of the season on Saturday.

RB - Eric Lichaj

Lichaj will be looking to replicate his performance against Birmingham City last week where he scored a wonderful goal as well as defending magnificently.

The consistent American is likely to return to his natural right back position, with Portuguese youngster Hildeberto Pereira suspended after picking up a red card at Blackburn on Tuesday night.

Lichaj will need to be in top form to nullify the attacking threat of Cardiff new boy Junior Hoilett.

CB - Michael Mancienne

After missing both the Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers game through injury, Mancienne is expected to return to the back four to replace the suspended Matt Mills.

The strong and athletic centre half will provide pace across the back four as the Reds to look to keep their first clean sheet of the season.

CB - Jack Hobbs

Although Damien Perquis' experience is useful, it is a mystery as to why Jack Hobbs can't get a game for Forest, especially with them yet to have a clean sheet.

The former Hull City man is easily one of the best defenders at the club when fit, and he could be the man to help them secure a much needed clean sheet.

LB - Armand Traore

Missing the game on Tuesday night means that Traore should be ready to start once again for the Reds after a solid performance last week against Birmingham City.

The former QPR man can certainly help nullify the attacking threat of Cardiff City winger Craig Noone with his pace.

CDM - David Vaughan

Despite coming off injured on Tuesday night, Philippe Montanier revealed the former Sunderland man will be fit for the visit of the Bluebirds on Saturday.

Since his re-introduction into the team, Vaughan has been superb in the middle of the park, shielding the back four and helping to begin attacks from the back.

I fully expect him to resume this role on Saturday, providing he is match fit.

CM - Chris Cohen

Three games in the space of 11 days could be too much for Cohen after long injury issues in the past, however, the 29-year-old is crucial to the Forest side.

Like David Vaughan, the club captain helps pulls the strings in the centre of midfield and a battle against the talented midfield of Aron Gunnarsson and in-form Peter Whittingham will be intriguing.

CM - Henri Lansbury

If Lansbury is playing well, then nine times out of ten, so will the entire Forest side.

His passion and creativity is crucial to the side and Forest fans will be hoping he is in top form for Saturday's important match.

A battle against Iceland international Aron Gunnarsson will be a good watch.

RW- Mustapha Carayol

Carayol also limped off on Tuesday night but Montanier has confirmed he should return to the side after the knock.

Forest fans were shown their first glimpse of what the former Boro man is capable off last week against Birmingham, and Carayol will be determined to show them more.

Saturday would be the perfect time for the 28-year-old to notch his first goal for the club.

LW - Ben Osborn

Another consistent performer for the Reds, Osborn can finally be regarded as a key player for the club.

The 22-year-old still has plenty to learn and needs to add goals to his performances to make him a complete player, but he is still a very important player for the Reds.

ST - Apostolos Vellios

Forest fans will be disappointed not to see Britt Assombalonga here, but lets not forget who the club's top goalscorer is.

Vellios is in fine form and despite being criticised at the start of the season, the Greek international has silenced those critics with his ability to score all different types of goals.

I expect him to lead the line once again.
