There has been a big buzz around the city of Leeds this week, after Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United started the Championship season in emphatic fashion last weekend against Stoke City.

The Potters arrived at Elland Road as favourites, but were met by a slick Leeds side, who are clearly buying into Bielsa’s methods.

Goals from Mateusz Klich and Pablo Hernandez during the first-half put Leeds in full control, after Bielsa’s side put in an outstanding 45 minutes.

Benik Afobe’s penalty gave Stoke hope, but Liam Cooper’s header restored Leeds’ two-goal lead, with the Whites able to hold on for a 3-1 victory.

That was just one game, which is something Bielsa will have been drilling into his players ahead of Leeds’ trip to Derby County on Saturday evening.

The clash at Pride Park is set to be the Championship’s standout fixture this weekend, and here at FLW, we take a look at the Leeds XI Bielsa should be fielding at Derby…

Peacock-Farrell has been handed a big vote of confidence this season, with the 21-year-old starting the campaign as first choice ahead of Jamal Blackman.

Ayling was superb for Leeds last weekend, pushing up the right side of the field and putting Stoke on the back foot.

It’ll be important he does that again this weekend against some lively wingers.

There will be a temptation to recall Pontus Jansson, but Berardi deserves to keep his place at the heart of defence.

Cooper put in a real captain’s performance last weekend against Stoke.

Bielsa will be looking for more of the same.

Douglas had a similar impact to Ayling against Stoke, with these two full-backs offering Leeds real width.

Phillips played so deep last weekend he was almost at centre-back.

Bielsa’s tactic worked and it’s hard to imagine Phillips’ role will change this weekend.

The flexibility of this system allows Hernandez to roam off the right, which he did for his goal last weekend.

The Spaniard is a clever player, who could really begin to thrive under Bielsa.

Klich’s pressing was super last weekend and Leeds will need more of the same against Derby’s midfield trio.

Saiz will play a little bit further forward than Klich, with the 27-year-old having the licence to push right up the pitch.

Alioski looked good on the left last weekend, with Bielsa looking to bring some consistency to the Macedonian’s game.

Getting him performing this weekend at Derby will be a real sign of improvement.

Patrick Bamford will be knocking on the door, but it’d be unfair to leave Roofe out.

The 25-year-old led the line with real purpose last weekend, with a goal the only thing missing from his performance.
