Aston Villa’s supporters are feeling frustrated, with Steve Bruce’s side not hitting the same heights they did earlier in the Sky Bet Championship season.

Bruce was left furious by Villa’s performance on Saturday lunchtime, when his side were beaten 3-1 by Norwich City at Carrow Road, which left the Villans well adrift in the race for automatic promotion.

One victory in five fixtures has seen Villa remain fourth, but now seven points adrift of Cardiff City in second, with the Bluebirds having a game in-hand over their rivals.

Well out of form, Villa are now looking over their shoulder, with the race for the top-six gathering pace ahead of the final five fixtures of the season.

Villa have a quick opportunity to turn things back in their favour following Saturday, when they welcome Cardiff to Villa Park for a huge contest.

Here at FLW, we take a look at Villa’s squad, selecting the starting XI we believe we will see Bruce field…

Johnstone has been ever-present and it would be a huge shock to not see him in Tuesday’s starting XI.

Villa’s best this season has come with Elmohamady at right-back.

Chester will continue at the heart of defence.

Terry’s experience is going to be key now for Villa, who will need their captain to step up ahead of a looming play-off campaign.

Bruce would probably want Alan Hutton available at left-back, but with the Scot having a troublesome hamstring, Taylor is likely to continue in an unchanged defensive unit.

Against Cardiff, Jedinak’s height and physicality could be key against a Neil Warnock side.

Villa will need Snodgrass back to his creative best, as without him firing, they look a poor outfit.

Bjarnason should be given a little bit more freedom by Jedinak’s presence, with the Icelandic midfielder stepping into £3.6m-rated Conor Hourihane’s role in Villa’s 4-1-4-1 system.

Grealish was one of Villa's only players to come out of Saturday with any credit. He is going to be key during the run-in.

Adomah might’ve been pulled off early against Norwich, but Bruce will trust him to improve against Cardiff.

This is Villa’s biggest game of the season so far, and Bruce will want to see if Kodjia is getting back up to speed - he should start ahead of Scott Hogan and Lewis Grabban.
