Derby County and Nottingham Forest don’t like each other, and despite the two clubs not competing for the same honours in the Sky Bet Championship this season, their rivalry is still fierce.

Despite Derby’s superior form this season, both clubs have exceptional talent within their squad, with comparisons between players often made.

Here at FLW, we take a look at two exceptionally talented attacking midfielders, Tom Lawrence at Derby and Kieran Dowell at Nottingham Forest, comparing the duo’s stats from the 2017/18 campaign so far.

£4.05m-rated Lawrence is part of the Derby side who are taking the Championship’s promotion race by storm, with the 24-year-old featuring regularly under Gary Rowett, but only managing to score two goals and register six assists this season.

Compared to Dowell’s numbers, Lawrence is behind, with the Forest number 10 chipping in with 10 goals at the City Ground, as well as registering a further four assists.

Influencing goals is not the only area where Dowell is superior to Lawrence, with the 20-year-old averaging more passes per game, at a higher success rate, along with averaging more shots and key passes.

Of course, Lawrence pips his rival in more areas than registered assists, with the Derby forward averaging a higher number of dribbles per game.
