The mood has lifted significantly around Sheffield Wednesday since the sacking of Jos Luhukay and the appointment of Steve Bruce.
With initial help from his assistant Steve Agnew, Bruce has steadied a ship that looked like it could well capsize at any moment, winning the fans back on side and solidifying on pitch issues as well.
Since the turn of the year, the Owls have lost just once, beating Wigan Athletic and Ipswich Town and drawing with Reading.
Promotion has long been incredibly unlikely, but with relegation now also looking like a long-shot, Bruce can probably start planning for a summer overhaul of his squad.
Departures will surely be his priority in the next transfer window. Wednesday boast the biggest squad in the Championship, with 36 first team players to their name.
With plenty of injury problems hampering past campaigns, those players prone to layoffs will be top of his list.
Here, then, are THREE players that Bruce should be looking to axe…
The Czech defender made the move to Wednesday back in 2015, but has been heavily hampered with injury problems.
Making just over 100 appearances in that time, he is somebody who will no doubt have become a drain on the club and with his contract set to expire in the summer, he should be shipped out.
This is one that may irritate the fans if it were to happen, but it would be a smart move.
The striker will be one of the Owls highest paid stars, but has not played in over a year now thanks to a series of injuries.
His contract is also up in the summer and it would be a huge risk to offer him a new deal.
As far as value for money goes, Abdi must be one of the worst signings in Championship history.
Brought to Hillsborough from Watford in the summer of 2016, this Swiss has gone on to make just 23 appearances.
There is surely no chance that Bruce will offer him a new deal in the summer and his time at the club is surely up.
