Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has revealed to talkSPORT - reported via The Scottish Sun -  that he will be targeting some Scottish Premiership players this summer.

Warnock wants to add five or six new faces to his Cardiff squad ahead of their Premier League campaign and he will be scouring the market north of the border.

The experienced boss dipped into the transfer market last summer to snap up highly-rated utility man Callum Paterson from Hearts and he has been an integral part of the side that has won promotion to the Premier League.

Now, Warnock is ready to look again at players from the top division in Scotland.

Warnock told talkSPORT (quotes via The Scottish Sun): “I have looked at two or three players in Scotland. We can’t start bringing stars in from all over the show. We have to bring in five or six players that will fit into the squad."

According to The Scottish Sun, one of his possible targets is Rangers midfielder Josh Windass, who is rated at £3m.

The 24-year-old, formerly of Accrington Stanley, scored 18 goals from midfield for the Gers this summer but he is still being linked with a move away.

The Verdict

Cardiff will be more restricted than their Premier League rivals this summer so they need to be shrewd in the transfer window.

It is important that Warnock does not change the dynamic of his squad too much as he has a winning side.

But a few Scottish players might add some depth to his squad with Windass at £3m representing quite a cheap deal in today's market.
