Published

on

It was some end to the season for Bolton Wanderers, with Phil Parkinson’s side clinching survival in the Sky Bet Championship.

Despite trailing against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, Bolton produced an exceptional comeback to win 3-2, managing to secure another year of Championship football at the Macron Stadium, with Barnsley and Burton Albion joining Sunderland in League One.

With the season over, we take a look back on Bolton’s 2017/18 campaign:

Bolton won 10 of their matches, drawing 13 and losing the remaining 23. Parkinson’s side scored 39 goals over the season and conceded 74.

The Trotters finished in 21st, two points ahead of Barnsley and the bottom three, with our FLW Player of the Year award going to Mark Beevers, who featured in 44 of Bolton’s 46 Championship fixtures.

Our award for Young Player of the Year went to another member of Bolton’s defence – Antonee Robinson.

The 20-year-old managed 35 appearances across all competitions, including 26 starts in the Championship.

Karl Henry is our Signing of the Year following some impressive midfield performances.

Our Performance of the Year was Bolton’s impressive 1-0 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on December 30th. Gary Madine’s 21st minute goal that day helped Parkinson’s side to a vital three points against a side fighting for promotion.

Aaron Wilbraham claims our Goal of the Season for his winner against Forest on Sunday, which was a brilliant goal, but also so important in the context of Bolton’s season.

Finally, we take a look at the best quote of the season, which comes from Parkinson following Sunday’s impressive victory, with Bolton’s boss describing the feeling of staying up “surreal.”
