Leeds United goalkeeper Rob Green has challenged his teammates to “ask the question” and aim for automatic promotion from the Sky Bet Championship this season, reports the club’s official website.

Garry Monk’s side are currently fourth in the Championship, seemingly on course for a place in the end of season Play-Offs, with eight fixtures of the campaign remaining.

The Whites defeated second-placed Brighton and Hove Albion in their last league fixture, as Monk’s side showcased their promotion credentials by closing the gap to the top-two to just eight-points.

Ahead of the Championship run-in beginning this weekend, Green talked up Leeds’ automatic promotion chances, he said: “All we can do now is ask the question.

“We have a young side and still have a lot to learn, but we go into every game knowing that if we can put a performance in like last Saturday’s, eight times on the bounce, then we will win eight games and you are asking the question.

“Generally two points a game wins you promotion and if we win every game it will give us 93 points, so just one over.

“It is a huge ask, but we are looking up rather than down, you can never say never, we just need to ask that question.”

Green has been outstanding for Monk’s side this season, and has played a major role in helping Leeds challenge for a place back in the Premier League.

The 37-year-old has been ever-present in the Championship for Leeds, something that is set to continue this weekend when Monk’s side travel to fifth-placed Reading on Saturday evening.
