Leeds United defender Lewie Coyle returned to Fleetwood Town on a short-term loan deal at the start of the season.

The 23-year-old has made 23 appearances for Leeds in his career, but has spent the past two seasons on loan with the Cod Army.

The right-back has started all eight of Fleetwood's matches so far this season, although he'll be returning to Leeds in January when his loan expires.

He'll be determined to impress head coach Marcelo Bielsa and convince him that he deserves another chance at Elland Road.

To assess whether he's suitable for a Leeds return, we take a closer look at some of Coyle's stats for Fleetwood so far this season...

Coyle has made eight appearances for Fleetwood this season, playing a total of 784 minutes. The right-back is yet to score a goal, or register an assist. He's had three shots on goal, but has only been able to manage one shot on target.

Bielsa likes his full-backs to get forward and join in the attacks, so perhaps this is something that Coyle will need to improve on if he's to force his way into the starting line-up at Leeds.

His passing stats so far this season are rather impressive though. Coyle has made a total of 360 passes, with a pass accuracy of 77.2%. This is something that you imagine will please Bielsa, as Leeds like to dominate possession and play out from the back.

His defensive stats this season are also encouraging. Coyle has won 62.9% of his 69 duels this season, which is good. He's also made 37 interceptions, 22 clearances, blocked four shots and won six of his ten attempted sliding tackles.

His stats suggest that he's not as good in the air though, as he's only won 41.9% of his 31 aerial duels. This is perhaps one area of his game that he'll be hoping to improve on.

The right-back has only given ten fouls away this season, which is very good for a defender, although he's also been shown a yellow card three times, which is not good considering he's only played eight games.

Perhaps the most important stat is that Coyle has completed 64.3% of his total actions, which all things considered is pretty good.

Coyle has been an important player for Fleetwood over the past few seasons and his stats show that he's capable of playing at a higher level.

However, he doesn't have as much experience in the Championship and he may struggle to get into the Leeds starting line-up ahead of the likes of Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas.
