Tranmere Rovers and Forest Green are no strangers in play-off competition, having met each other at Wembley in the 2016/17 National League final.

Forest Green won that encounter, but Mickey Mellon's side were soon to join them in the Football League, coming up a year later once again through the play-offs.

They're once again coming up against their former adversaries and remarkably, both Mellon and Mark Cooper are still in the dugout. It's a testament to the chairmen of both clubs that in today's environment they've remained loyal to their managers.

Tranmere have a weapon, a not so secret one, who brought 29 league goals to their season. Whilst Forest Green will know all about him, it's the other ten players that could provide the Super White Army with a third Wembley appearance in as many years.

Tranmere like an old-school 4-4-2, although often in practice it can be likened to a 4-4-1-1 with Connor Jennings sitting behind James Norwood. The former Forest Green striker is the major threat in their side, 29 of their 63 league goals came form his boot.

Preston's Ben Pringle has enjoyed a successful loan spell at Prenton Park and he's sure to play this evening, Kieron Morris another loan player likely to feature. He's come from Walsall and given their relegation, could earn promotion with Tranmere only to play in League Two again next season.

Ollie Banks is a regular in the midfield and has been a driving force behind their good run. He's likely to be joined by Jay Harris.

At the back, Manny Monthe is a huge talent, literally. He's a big player, great in the air and solid as a rock. There's a chance he could be partnered this evening by veteran Steve McNulty, a player who has lost a yard of pace but not the awareness that's kept him at a good level his whole career.

Jake Caprice came out of the National League last year and has proven himself to be quite adept, with Zoumana Bakayogo and Scott Davies completing the XI.
