Lukasz Jutkiewicz is in limbo of sorts at Birmingham City. He's not a first team starter with a third of his Blues appearances coming from the bench.

The 29-year old is contracted at St Andrew's, but even three goals in seven April days won't have pushed him into the first XI for very long. He bagged on the final day of the season too as the Blues beat Fulham, but is it enough to justify keeping him in the Midlands?

FLW shines a spotlight on the former Everton man, asking if he's worth keeping at Birmingham this season.

Firstly, it is important to realise he played 35 times in the Championship for Birmingham last season under all three managers. With each change he wasn't completely frozen out, which indicates he is a strong squad player. 19 of those were starts, 16 came from the subs' bench.

Despite the uncertainty ovfirst-teamst team place, he did score five league goals. Three of those came in a week, against Burton, Bolton and Bristol City. Birmingham picked up four crucial points in that spell, with the gap between themselves and safety being five points. Crucial goals that settled the end of season nerves? Absolutely.

He provided a single assist during the season too, but how heavily could he feature spending so much time on the bench or in the stands?

He averages 1.7 shots per game, again a figure that shows endeavour and a desire to get forward. He won 5.8 aerial duels per game too, using all his 6ft 1in frame to good use. when you consider much of his game time was for a small portion of proceedings, that is a strong average.

His pass success rate wasn't so good, just 53.4% of his passes arrived at their destination, or 46.4% did not.

The stats don't give us justification for putting him forward as a key player next season, but there's enough in there to suggest he'll be a great squad player with plenty to offer when called upon. Birmingham would be foolish to offload him unduly.
