Chris Wilder will lead Sheffield United out so soon after marking his 1,000th day in charge in a match that could see the Blades move to the top of the Championship with a win.
If they are to sit top of the division for an evening at least, they will need to get past their opponents Aston Villa who will pose a stiff test to their promotion credentials.
Dean Smith’s side have one win in six but know it will be a tough battle as they look to move within a point of the play-offs with a win over United this evening.
But the Blades have lost just one in six, and the carrot of going top of the league should enhance the club’s players into giving more than they usually would this evening.
Now, that should be the standard each week, but in such a landmark match that could see United move top of the table, the line-up Wilder selects will be important.
With that said, this is the XI the Blades boss should start with if he wants his side to move top of the Championship.
Dean Henderson should keep his place in the starting line-up with a 3-5-2 formation ahead of him.
A back three consisting of Chris Basham, John Egan and Jack O’Connell will be in operation at Villa Park tonight.
In the wing-back positions, ready to move up and down the flanks throughout the 90 minutes, will be Enda Stevens on the left and George Baldock on the right-hand side.
In the centre of midfield will be Oliver Norwood and John Fleck with Mark Duffy in the number ten role behind the front pair Wilder chooses to go with.
And that should be David McGoldrick and the league’s top scorer Billy Sharp leading the line for the Blades.
This is the team that could well move the club top of the table ahead of the Saturday afternoon fixtures.
