Preston North End ended their six-game winless run in all competitions on Saturday afternoon, with a 2-1 win over Charlton Athletic at Deepdale.

After former Preston loanee Andre Green had opened the scoring for Charlton, Josh Harrop fired in a stunning effort to level for North End, before ex-Charlton man Patrick Bauer headed in what proved to be the winner for the hosts early in the second half.

One Preston man for whom the game will have been particularly significant, is Scott Sinclair.

Following his move from Celtic earlier this month, Sinclair was handed his full debut for the club in front of his new home crowd, following a brief late cameo in a 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers the week before.

So who did Sinclair fare on his first start for his new club?

Here, we put the spotlight on the winger's performance, in order to find out.

Given the lack of football he had played at Celtic during the first half of the season could have led to some concerns about Sinclair's match fitness, the fact that the 30-year-old was able to make it through the whole of Saturday's game will be encouraging for Preston, as will the stats behind his performance.

With three shots, one of which was able to find test Charlton goalkeeper Dillon Phillips, Sinclair already appears to be settling in and developing in confidence at Deepdale, given he has backed himself to look to make that sort of crucial contribution even at this early stage in his Preston career.

Having also registered one shot assist during the game, it also seems as though Sinclair is starting to attempt to create chances for his new teammates, as well as attempting to take opportunities himself.

Indeed, with Sinclair finishing the game with a pass success rate of 80%, it appears as though the winger is already getting on to a similar sort of wavelength to the rest of this Preston side, allowing him to link up effectively with the rest of the team in just the sort of way manager Alex Neil will have wanted him to.

As a result, it is perhaps no surprise that the rest of those lining up for Preston were keen to bring Sinclair into the game, with the winger receiving 16 passes across the course of the match, highlighting the confidence the rest of the squad already have in their newest recruit, given there appears to have been no concerns about giving him possession in what was at times a tightly fought encounter.

That is something that looks to have paid off for Preston, given what Sinclair was able to do during his time on the ball.

In addition to his shooting and creativity, with Sinclair embarking on seven dribbles across the course of the game, he was also evidently willing to be the man to take the game to Charlton on Saturday, and having been successful with four of those dribbles, he does seem to have done that with a reasonable degree of success.

Consequentially, it appears as though Saturday proved to be an encouraging full debut for Sinclair, and as his match fitness and knowledge of Preston's style of play increase the more he plays, you feel the better and more influential he is going to get for his new club.

This, therefore, could prove to be a very useful signing indeed.
