André Ayew has recently stated that he will be staying at Swansea after a number of transfer rumours linking the Ghanaian with a move away during the summer.

The forward had been out on loan at Turkish club Fenerbahce last season, and having returned it was unlikely that he would stay with the Swans having not featured in pre-season.

Yet, after a fantastic cameo in the Carabao Cup against Northampton, when he scored twice, he has become an integral part of Steve Cooper's new look Swansea side.

In the statement that Ayew put out about staying at the Swans, he said that he bought into the manager's ideas and plans. Seemingly, a large part in Ayew's stay at Swansea will be down to the new boss, Cooper.

Since he's been back in the side he's been an important part of Swansea's attack going into games. The quality he possesses is a very high level for the Championship, and he has proven that he's been able to do it in the Premier League before at East London club West Ham United.

He's picked up two assists in the four league games that he's been a part of, as the Swans sit top of the Championship after the first six games of the season.

His pass accuracy is at a very high level for the attacker, especially in the Championship. Ayew's 81.3% pass accuracy is at an excellent rate for a side who enjoy keeping possession of the football. The 29-year-old has proven his ability to be able to be a successful part of the side, and that is something that will massively please Cooper.

He's made seven progressive runs so far this season, and has a 66.7% dribble success rate, which shows that more often than not he's able to beat his man and keep the ball for the Swans.

When attacking the box, he has shown that he's more than capable of finding his team-mates in the penalty area with a 75% success rate. It's a good statistic that also highlights the fact that Cooper wants to see the player further forward throughout games.

It'll be interesting to see whether Swansea can keep this early season form up, and they have all the potential to be able to so with such a young squad. Players like Ayew and the recently returned Borja Baston will help with the experience that is needed within the side.

Cooper and Ayew face Nottingham Forest next after the international break, in what will be another big test for the Swans.
