Birmingham City midfielder Cheikh Ndoye has accused the club of misusing him during his sole season with the Blues.

He moved to St. Andrew's on a free transfer from Angers last summer, but despite playing 37 Championship games, he never really showed the same form he had shown in France.

But the Senegalese midfielder claims this is down to the club misusing him.

“They misused me I think," Ndoye told L'Equipe, which has been translated by Sport Witness.

"Each time, I could not get into the area, or so I arrived, but the ball was too long or did not arrive.

"I often had two players on me, because they know that I win all the duels."

Ndoye arrived in the West Midlands with a reputation for scoring goals from midfield, having been reasonably prolific in France during the previous two seasons.

But he did not hit the back of the net once during his time with the Blues, leading to his exit this transfer window.

The 32-year-old has also made over 30 appearances for his national side and came off the bench against Poland and Japan at this summer's World Cup in Russia.

The Verdict

I am sure neither Garry Monk nor Harry Redknapp will lose a lot of sleep over his comments, even if they are true.

A lot of transfers simply do not work out and this seems like one of those. With the midfielder now 32, it is, of course, possible that he is simply past his best.
