The game of the midweek fixture list in League One takes place Sunderland and Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat on Tuesday night.

Jack Ross's side will come into the match with hopes of breaking into the automatic promotion places and currently sit just one point behind second-place Peterborough United.

A comfortable 2-0 win away to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday with a goal from Luke O'Nien and an own-goal from Omar Beckles meaning the Black Cats are undefeated in their last five matches.

But with it being a midweek match it is likely that changes will be made to the side that beat the Shrews on Saturday.

Rotation is crucial for any promotion-winning side but he will need to be careful not to change too much with Grant McCann's Doncaster Rovers also currently in the top-six.

So, here is the XI we expect Ross to line-up with on Tuesday night...

There is no reason for McLaughlin not to continue in goal.

He has been the division's stand-out 'keeper so far and it would be a big surprise if Ross were to rotate tomorrow night.

Keeping a solid back-line is always crucial so expect Matthews to retain his spot at right-back.

He has been solid whenever he has played and there is no reason for Ross to tinker.

Flanagan will maintain his spot in defence in order to continue to strengthen his partnership with Jack Baldwin.

He has been brilliant since arriving from Peterborough United in the summer and has quickly endeared himself to his new fans.

It would be surprising to see him dropped.

James has impressed since arriving at the club and with limited options at left-back it would be surprising if he did not start.

Coming into the squad will be O'Nien.

He scored off the bench against Shrewsbury and will most likely be rewarded with a start in place of Dylan McGeouch.

He will partner the ever reliable Lee Cattermole.

The veteran has refound his form emphatically this season and it would mental for Ross to drop him.

Over on the right will be Maguire.

He has been tremendous since signing from Bury in the summer and surpassed all expectations, becoming a crucial member of what is an exciting Sunderland attack.

Coming in for Jerome Sinclair will be Lynden Gooch.

He changed the game against Shrewsbury and has been impressive all season, so it would be remarkable to see him on the bench again tomorrow.

And on the left, expect McGeady to continue his return from injury.

He is far too good for League One level and will be a lethal weapon when he returns to his best which, although yet to happen, seems an inevitability.

Leading the line will, of course, be Josh Maja.

He is the league's top scorer with nine goals already and looks like a really exciting talent.
