Steven Naismith has been openly discussing his future, with the Norwich City forward admitting he would be open to a return to Rangers, reports The Scotsman.
The 31-year-old has plenty of experience in Scottish football, having made 132 appearances for Rangers over his career, whilst also enjoying a spell with Kilmarnock, which saw him make over 50 appearances.
Naismith is currently on the books at Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship, where he is contracted at Carrow Road until the summer of 2019. However, the forward has been discussing his future with the Canaries, admitting that he would be open to a move back to Scotland.
The 31-year-old, Scottish international was discussing his love for Rangers and how he still follows the club, before openly admitting he would be open to a return, he said: “First of all, you need people at the clubs to want you and you need to see what options are available.
“A return to Rangers would appeal. I’ve spoken in the past about Kilmarnock and Rangers and being appreciative for what they did for me as a player.
“I would look at those clubs and see if they were options to start with.”
So far this season, injuries have plagued Naismith’s involvement at Norwich, with the player unsure if he has a future at the club under the management of Daniel Farke.
A freak injury has kept Naismith out for lengthy periods, but the forward is stepping up his return by featuring for Norwich’s youth teams, as he looks to regain full fitness.
Norwich currently sit 16th in the Championship table, 10 points adrift of the division’s play-off zone.
The way Naismith is discussing his future suggests that it is only a matter of time before he and Norwich go in different directions, with the forward seemingly pushing for a return to Scotland.
Injuries haven’t helped Naismith this season, but Norwich have plenty of quality options in attack, which could limit the 31-year-old’s involvement even when he is fully fit.
With Naismith working his way back to full fitness, it is unclear if a January move is possible, however, the forward’s days at Carrow Road seem numbered.
