It has been a busy couple of weeks for all concerned with Nottingham Forest, as new manager Sabri Lamouchi continues to reshape his squad ahead of the 2019/20 Championship campaign.

The Tunisian boss has wasted no time in adding fresh faces to the squad left at his disposal by predecessor Martin O’Neill, with five new faces arriving at the City Ground over the past week.

Tiago Silva, Alfa Semedo, Yuri Ribeiro, Aro Muric and Albert Adomah have all put pen to paper on a move to the East Midlands, with preparations for the new campaign well and truly underway.

For Forest, it’s a case of dusting themselves down and going again under fresh management next season, having seen their push for promotion derail before their eyes under O’Neill.

With just over three weeks to go until the Reds kick off their season against West Bromwich Albion, we take a look at what the strongest Forest line-up might be at present...

Having experimented with the 4-2-3-1 formation in pre-season, this is the system that we have gone with.

Lamouchi has recently bolstered his goalkeeping options with the signing of Aro Muric from Manchester City - the 20-year-old showed glimpses of his quality for Pep Guardiola’s side in the cup competitions last season, and will push Costel Pantilimon all the way next term.

At right-back, Tendayi Darikwa doesn’t really fave any competition from elsewhere, but central defence is a whole different matter.

With the likes of Joe Worrall, Tobias Figueiredo and Michael Dawson all looking to make an impact in pre-season, the trio will be desperate to force themselves into Lamouchi’s plans ahead of Yohan Benalouane and Alexander Milosevic.

Forest also have a plethora of talented midfielders in the middle of the park, and both Semedo and Silva arrive with decent pedigree. The former featured in the Champions League with Benfica last season, so it's clear that he has massive potential.

Joe Lolley was undoubtedly Forest’s standout performer last season, and he will definitely keep his place on the right-hand side of midfield next season.

Joao Carvalho was frozen out by O’Neill in the second half of last season, but the club’s record signing will be champing at the bit to reminding the City Ground faithful what he can do next season.

There will be a real fight to see who occupies the left flank next season - Sammy Ameobi and Albert Adomah are both established Championship players, but the latter’s form for Aston Villa in recent years means that he ultimately edges this particular battle.

This leaves the centre forward role, and after ending up as the club’s leading goalscorer with 17 strikes last season, Lewis Grabban will be looking to hit the 20-goal mark next time out.
