31-y/o in, 27-y/o out: The expected Birmingham XI to face Aston Villa on Sunday

Birmingham City resume Championship action this weekend when they face their fierce rivals Aston Villa.

Villa Park is the venue for the Second City derby between the two sides who are separated in the league by one goal, with both clubs level on points, with the hosts this weekend one goal and one place better off than their opponents.

With the international fixtures out of the way for the rest of the calendar year, Garry Monk will be hoping his side can continue their resurgence having four of their last six matches to propel themselves up the league.

Despite no win in two, the Blues had won their previous four in a row to move clear of the relegation zone and look further towards the top end of the division.

Monk will have selection dilemmas ahead of the derby to pick a side that will be capable of winning and withstanding the pressures this particular fixture has to offer.

Two weeks off to accommodate the UEFA Nations League matches will have allowed Monk’s men to have discussed their last two fixtures and look to get back to winning ways in the derby this weekend.

With that said, here is the starting XI we expect from Birmingham City when they host Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
