Sheffield United sealed a return to the top flight last weekend with a 2-0 home win over Ipswich Town.

Chris Wilder's side comfortably saw off the Tractor Boys and ultimately saw off Leeds in the race for the top two, with the Blades still in with a chance of landing top spot this weekend if results go their way.

With promotion achieved, manager Wilder will no doubt already have plenty of thoughts in his head regarding the summer and next season, especially around players he might see coming into the club, as well as those he feels might need to move away from Bramall Lane.

And one man whose future could be under the microscope is 30-year-old striker Ched Evans, who despite having a decent season with Fleetwood Town this term, will no doubt be aware that his chances of breaking into the United first-team fold and making an impact are slim.

Evans returned to the club in controversial circumstances last year but has struggled with injuries in his second spell with the club, ultimately forcing Wilder's hand.

Couple this with the consistently excellent form of Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick, and Evans never really stood much chance of making a name for himself in the Championship with the Blades.

There is however definitely still a good player in there with Evans, as his spell with the Cod Army has shown that he still has the goalscoring touch in the lower leagues, much like he proved for United some years back when he notched 35 goals before being sent to prison late in the campaign.

Unfortunately for Evans, United are going to need more quality than he can perhaps bring to the table, and the likes of Gary Madine and Scott Hogan are bound to be pursued by Wilder ahead of bringing Evans back into the fold.

The Welshman does indeed have something to offer, but it's just not going to be enough to force his way into the reckoning for the now Premier League Blades.
