Richard Stearman has praised Sheffield United for their reaction last night, as the Blades returned to winning ways against Reading in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Sheffield United defender took to his personal Twitter account to applaud his teammates following their victory at the Madejski Stadium, encouraging them to continue that type of form against Burton Albion on Saturday.

Chris Wilder had voiced his concerns about his side following a 1-0 defeat to Hull City on Friday, but the Blades returned to winning ways last night against Reading, picking up a 3-1 victory.

That success was Sheffield United’s third in their last four Championship fixtures, which has helped the Blades back into the play-offs ahead of Saturday’s clash with Burton at Bramall Lane.

Stearman, 30, completed 90 minutes of the contest alongside Jack O’Connell and Chris Basham in defence, as a Billy Sharp brace and thunderbolt from Mark Duffy secured a vital three points for Wilder’s side.

The Blades leapfrogged Bristol City into sixth last night, with Wilder’s side now in pole position to secure sixth during the final 12 fixtures of the Championship season.

The Verdict

Wilder had been so critical of his side following the defeat to Hull, and he got the reaction he was fishing for last night, with the Blades magnificent at the Madejski.

The Blades are in a good run despite Wilder’s criticism, and with a struggling Burton up next, it is the time for them to take control of the race for sixth.

Stearman’s tweet indicates he and his teammates are well aware of that ahead of Saturday.
