Harvey Barnes joined West Brom on a season-long loan from Premier League outfit Leicester City.

The young prospect has been widely saluted by the West Brom fan base for his exciting performances so far.

News circulated about a month ago that Barnes was going to be recalled to the Foxes amid an injury crisis, but that never came to fruition and West Brom kept their man.

This was great news for the Baggies, who are flying in the Championship and a large proportion of that is thanks to Barnes, who has been excellent.

Barnes shone in England U21’s game at Chesterfield the other week and his career potential seems to be growing by the game.

Still yet to turn 21, Barnes obviously has a bright future and maybe his ceiling is much higher than West Brom.

Here, we choose three words that sum up Harvey Barnes’ time at West Brom so far.

It may sound a bit obvious, but Barnes has a sky-high potential.

At the age of 20, the Baggies midfielder looks like he has the potential to maybe make the step up to the Premier League as early as next season, although that may happen naturally via a West Brom promotion.

He will look up to his Leicester team mate James Maddison as a success story of a young Championship prospect taking the step up and being a star in the top flight.

For many young players, the performances are there, but goals are lacking. That is not the case for Barnes, who is contributing to all aspects of play from his number 10 role.

So far, he has netted 5 goals and registered 3 assists in the Championship, which is a great statistic for a 20-year-old.

Most of all, Barnes is exciting and a joy to watch.

Every time he receives the ball, his first thought is to advance the play forward, whether it be via a driving run or a pass which breaks the line of the defence.

Baggies fans must love it when Barnes is given the ball in space.
