Nottingham Forest will embark on a new era at the City Ground next season with the appointment of a new manager imminently on the horizon.

Dougie Freedman was sacked as the club’s manager back in March after a little over a year in charge, with the club without a full time manager ever since.

The incoming manager is likely to be someone with Championship experience with Gianfranco Zola and Neil Warnock both touted among the favourites for the vacancy.

The current squad at the City Ground is pretty decent and with a few quality additions there is a real sense that the club could challenge towards the top of the Championship.

One area the Reds may look to scour in the transfer market is the pool of young talent who are playing in under-21 sides for Premier League clubs, with a plethora of talent there to be utilised.

Football League World writer Lee Clarke takes a look at three Premier League wonderkids who Forest should look to sign during the summer.

Dominic Solanke

Solanke

The 18-year-old will return to Stamford Bridge this summer following a loan spell with Chelsea’s feeder club Vitesse Arnhem, where he has performed well.

His seven goals from 25 matches have shown that he has the ability to score regular goals despite often being played in wide positions.

Solanke is raw and exciting and a loan spell in the Championship would enable him to get used to the more robust, physical style of football, ready for an inevitable run of games in the first-team at Chelsea.

Forest are not blessed with loads of wingers who know where the back of the net is and the Chelsea starlet could be a decent acquisition.

Sheyi Ojo

The Liverpool winger already has some Championship experience under his belt having spent time on loan with Wigan Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

At 18-years-old, the Hemel Hempstead-born youngster looks set for a bright future and one final season-long loan spell will do him good.

At Wolves last season he scored twice in 17 appearances before being recalled by Liverpool in January, going onto make eight appearances for the Reds’ first-team.

Ojo has pace to burn and he would work well in tandem with Forest star Oliver Burke, becoming a nightmare for defenders to contend with in the process.

Ashley Fletcher

The Manchester United forward made a real name for himself during a loan spell at Barnsley at the back end of the 2015/16 campaign.

Fletcher is an all-action striker and his nine goals contributed towards the Tykes’ promotion into the Sky Bet Championship.

It is hard to imagine Fletcher returning to Manchester United and being thrust straight into the first-team picture, given the abundance of talent currently in attack at Old Trafford.

Forest will undoubtedly look for some more firepower this pre-season and the 20-year-old would be a decent signing for the Reds.

Nottingham Forest fans, would you welcome these players at the club next season?
