Reading head into the game against Wigan Athletic on Wednesday night aiming to bounce back from a slim defeat to Leeds United on Saturday.

The Royals have been much better since Mark Bowen took over in October and he will be hoping he can replicate his 3-1 victory at the DW Stadium back in November.

Here are THREE Wigan weaknesses that Reading must look to exploit...

Their lack of goals

Wigan have scored just 34 goals so far this season which is the joint-lowest in the whole of the Championship. Reading's defenders have to make sure they're on their game and then they will have a great chance of coming away with three points from the fixture.

The Royals have defended well since Mark Bowen came in as manager, and with Andy Yiadom getting into his defensive stride since returning from injury, Reading have a great opportunity of earning a clean sheet on Wednesday night.

The pressure mounted on them

Wigan are in dire need of collecting some points at this present minute and will be hoping that in every game they play they can earn at least one point. The pressure is well and truly on and the Latics will not want to be relegated this season.

If they go a goal down, could we see them crumble? It would be interesting to see how they would respond especially considering the awful away record that the side has in the division this season.

Their away form

This is something Reading simply have to exploit on Wednesday night. Wigan are known to not be as competitive away from home as they are at the DW Stadium. They rarely win away and will have to show real strength to win at the Royals.

You get the feeling that the first goal in this game could be pivotal in determining the outcome of the fixture. If Reading were to get it then they could well go on and get a hatful, however, if Wigan were to score first then it could pile the pressure on at an expectant Madejski Stadium.
