Oxford United manager Karl Robinson will be looking to extend the club's current unbeaten run to four games on Wednesday when they face West Ham United in the Carabao Cup.

The Yellows set up a meeting with the Hammers by securing a dramatic victory over Millwall in the second round of the competition at the Kassam Stadium.

After Jon Dadi Bodvarsson scored twice for the Lions, Oxford halved the deficit via a Mark Sykes strike before James Henry netted a stoppage time equaliser to take the clash to penalties.

Whilst the Yellows were able to convert all of their spot-kicks, misses from Bodvarsson and Shane Ferguson resulted in Millwall crashing out of the Carabao Cup.

With the Yellows now set to host a Hammers side who comfortably defeated Manchester United in their most recent outing, it will be intriguing to see how Robinson approaches this particular clash.

Here, we take a look at three West Ham flaws that Oxford should be looking to exploit tomorrow night...

The Irons' defence may not be as watertight as it seems

Although West Ham currently find themselves fifth in the Premier League, they have illustrated enough defensive frailties to suggest that they could be vulnerable on Tuesday.

Despite keeping four consecutive clean-sheets in all competitions, the Irons' 5-0 opening day defeat to Manchester City served as a reminder that they are capable of capitulating from time to time.

Therefore, if Manuel Pellegrini's side are unable to produce the goods defensively at the Kassam Stadium, it is imperative that Oxford punish them.

Pellegrini's side have yet to hit top form away from home

Whilst the Irons have yet to suffer defeat on their travels this season, it is fair to say that Pellegrini will be wanting to see his side make some notable improvements during their clashes away from the London Stadium.

Having been held by Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa in recent weeks, West Ham have shown that they are prone to a lack of consistency.

Therefore, with Oxford currently brimming with confidence after hammering Lincoln City 6-0 at the weekend, they could cause the Hammers substantial issues tomorrow providing that they are on top-form.

Allowing West Ham to dominate possession could prove to be a gutsy move

When you consider that the Irons' recent victory over United saw them surrender possession to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in order to play on the counter-attack, Oxford should consider adopting a gutsy approach to Tuesday's clash.

Although allowing West Ham to keep the ball for vast sways of the game could backfire on the Yellows if they cannot stay alert, it will give them the opportunity to break on their Premier League opportunities.

Given that Robinson has the likes of Tariqe Fosu and Ben Woodburn at his disposal, he could use the pace of both players to devastating effect tomorrow.
