Manchester United confirmed the signing of Swansea winger Daniel James this week, and Swansea must react by spending the money wisely.

The Welshman broke on to the scene at the Liberty Stadium following Swansea’s disappointing relegation in 2017/18, becoming a shining light in Graham Potter’s team.

His blistering pace and ability to beat a man devastated many defences, and he looks like he can be a real star in years to come.

Now though, Swansea must move on, and with the manager now in place, they can plan for the future and spend the money received for James’ sale.

Here, we look at three ways Steve Cooper and Swansea must use the Dan James money.

Do you agree, Swans fans, or do you think the money is best spent elsewhere? Let us know in the comments.

Buy a direct replacement

To put it simple, Swansea could be brutal and just lump a big fee down on a direct replacement.

This may be a reckless decision, but it could also benefit Swansea next season, if they were to go up via this ruthless transfer strategy.

Invest in the academy

Dan James, and many others thriving at Swansea at the moment, have been developed in the youth team.

By pumping some money into that, the long term gains of the Dan James sale could benefit Swansea massively.

Steve Cooper is a big fan of young players, so if he gets time in the job, this could be a great way to spend the money.

Raid League One

Instead of spending big, Swansea could sign two or three quality players from other leagues, in particular League One, where there are a number of stars.

Someone like Jamal Lowe could be a great addition after an outstanding impact with Portsmouth.
