Leeds United got their summer transfer window underway over the weekend with Lewis Baker arriving at Elland Road on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

Marcelo Bielsa has swooped to add the Chelsea midfielder to his squad on a temporary basis, with confirmation of the 23-year-old’s arrival coming on Saturday morning.

Baker arrives at Leeds for his second successive loan spell in the Championship, having spent last year on-loan with Leeds’ rivals, Middlesbrough.

The midfielder’s spell at the Riverside Stadium was difficult, with Baker making just 14 appearances for Boro and returning two goals, as Tony Pulis cast him aside during the second-half of the season.

However, despite a frustrating spell, Leeds’ supporters are still looking forward to seeing Baker at Elland Road, with his signing brining plenty of optimism.

Here at FLW, we take a look at the midfielder, identifying THREE different ways he could fit into Bielsa’s system at Elland Road…

This is a position we haven’t seen Baker feature in much.

However, the 23-year-old could be used as a deep-lying playmaker, with Leeds set to play a possession-based game under Bielsa.

You’d think Baker would thrive in a different role, but this could be an option considered.

Leeds have a number of midfield options, but this is where many will expect Baker to feature.

It’s the 23-year-old’s best position and where he has had the best moments in his career.

Box-to-box and able to add goals to the team, this could be where he thrives.

Of course, Bielsa could also use Baker in an attacking midfield role.

The 23-year-old has the skill set to impress there, but will face tough competition for places.

The likes of Samu Saiz and Pablo Hernandez are other options, who will make competition tough.
