Sheffield United had a little bit of a miserable season under Nigel Adkins last season, finishing outside the top 10 and offering little throughout the season in general.

It was hard to really single out players for praise in the main, with only Billy Sharp excelling and a few others offering the odd performance here and there.

Next season, Chris Wilder will be keen to ensure his players at least give 100%, something the Blades fans demand in abundance down at Bramall Lane, and something which was in the main, missing.

Every club though has a few players on the books who are undervalued, and despite it being a tough season at Sheffield United, there is a couple of these sort of players in the squad.

With this in mind, FLW writer Lee Connor identifies THREE Sheffield United players who could be considered under-appreciated at Bramall Lane...

Chris Basham

The all rounder has to make this list just for his sheer persistence and effort in any position he plays in.

Last year he was played out wide, in the middle, at the back, and even chucked up front in the dying embers of games due to his aerial ability.

Basham is one of those players who quietly goes about his business, and it is vitally important he is involved next season. His energy and passion for the game can rub off on other players, and he will be someone Wilder will be looking at to impress immediately.

Matt Done

It might not be an obvious choice, but the Blades have yet to see the best of Done, and this is partly due to Adkins insistence last season that he be used as a left wing back.

Done though went about his business with minimal fuss, and even impressed down the left, despite looking uncomfortable.

Done will be hoping Chris Wilder will accommodate him in a more familiar attacking role next season, where he will be hoping to rediscover the form which saw the Blades part with £500k for his services from Rochdale a few seasons ago.

Billy Sharp

Yes there are those that love Billy Sharp, and in the main, Blades fans appreciate fully what he does for the club.

However, there are certain fans who still think he isn't offering enough, and are quick to jump on his back the week he might not score or miss a few chances.

Sharp could take a few more chances, granted, but we should not forget his contribution to the team last season. Without his goals the Blades would have almost certainly been involved in a relegation fight, and he will be firmly expected to lead the charge next season for Chris Wilder.
