Birmingham City are without a win in four after they drew 1-1 against Luton Town last night.

Whilst an away draw is a decent point in isolation, Aitor Karanka's side didn't convince for large parts, and they once again lacked inspiration in the final third.

Blues have managed just ten goals in 13 games, and the lack of attacking ambition in games is something that is annoying a section of the fan base.

Even though Karanka has done a lot of good work in making the team solid defensively, we look at THREE tweaks he needs to consider that could see Blues become more prolific in front of goal...

Stick to a formation

Many expected the Spaniard to go with a 4-2-3-1 this season, and whilst he has on occasions, he often has gone with a back five.

It seems that he is picking a formation on who the opposition are, which is understandable in a way. However, it's harming Blues and shows his negativity, as he should want the opponents to worry about Birmingham.

With the attacking midfielders the squad have, the 4-2-3-1 could be effective and needs to be given a regular run.

Get more pace in the XI

Another issue is that Blues are easy to defend against right now, but that could change.

Regularly starting the likes of Jeremie Bela and Jonathan Leko will give the team real pace as they can both commit defenders and stretch the play. Similarly, Alen Halilovic will add a lot with his movement and trickery.

Karanka has the players to make Blues a very attractive watch.

Pressing higher up the pitch

Finally, they need to play with more intensity.

This season, the side have generally sat back, invited pressure and looked to counter attack. And, that's a tactic that can be useful in certain games.

But, Blues need to mix it up and that will mean pressing from the front and higher up the pitch.
