After a string of impressive performances for Aston Villa this season, Axel Tuanzebe is set to be a player closely monitored by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer at Manchester United next term.

The 21-year-old has spent the best of two years on loan at Villa Park, and has really stepped up to the plate over the last couple of weeks next to Tyrone Mings.

And after being closely monitored by parent club Manchester United reports from the Daily Mail claim that Tuanzebe is set to be a part of Solksjaer's pre-season plans, as the club prepare to travel to Australia, China and Singapore.

This could be a big blow for Villa - Tuanzebe has hardly put a foot wrong under Dean Smith, and they would love to have a player of his quality on their books on a more long-term basis.

Here, we take a look at three replacements that Villa should consider after this latest update...

Semi Ajayi

Ajayi could certainly be a very good replacement for Tuanzebe, having endured an impressive season with Rotherham United this term.

The 25-year old has been the Millers' standout performer this season, scoring eight goals from defence and putting in a string of impressive performances for the Yorkshire club.

Despite their relegation to League One, he is a player that is surely destined for bigger and better things.

Yoann Barbet

Barbet is a player that Dean Smith is very familiar with, and could be another fantastic addition.

The Frenchman has been a fantastic servant for Brentford over the last few years, having made over 100 appearances for the West London club.

The defender is out of contract at Griffin Park in the summer though, and could be available at a bargain price in the summer.

Grant Hanley

Hanley may well be older than Tuanzebe, but he is an experienced leader at Championship level.

The 27-year old has endured a tough time at Norwich City this season, making only six league starts for Daniel Farke's men this season.

He isn't likely to break into Farke's plans in the Premier League next season, and could be available at a cut-price.
