After looking steady to secure an immediate return to the Premier League at the start of the season, Norwich City have fallen vastly in recent months and approach the final two games of 2016 on the back of seven defeats in their last nine league matches.

Dropping to tenth in the table and four points behind the top-six, the Canaries have seen their aspirations of securing automatic promotion decrease into a battle for a play-off spot which, naturally, isn't good enough for the club.

Finishing the calendar year with two testing matches against Reading and Brentford, Norwich will have to move swiftly in the January window if they are to turn their season around as waiting too long could leave them with a bigger deficit to overturn.

Every game is now a huge clash for the Canaries and January additions could provide the saving grace for a squad struggling to find form - and these THREE mid-season targets could significantly improve the chances of Alex Neil's side turning things around.

David Nugent

The veteran striker faces a wealth of competition for football at Middlesbrough from Alvaro Negredo and Jordan Rhodes, with it likely the 31-year-old will be offloaded in the New Year.

It's the sort of signing Norwich could benefit from, so Neil's men should make a swoop.

With vast experience in the Football League, including four years with Leicester City, Nugent has the experience to help guide Norwich out of their sticky patch and into better fortune.

He also wouldn't be the sort of signing that would break the bank, helping the club keep cash reserves to spend elsewhere.

Nahki Wells

The 26-year-old Bermudian forward has been a regular for Norwich's promotion rivals Huddersfield Town this season, making 21 appearances and scoring five goals.

With a further three assists to his name, he's capable of improving Norwich's ranks.

Persuading him to switch Huddersfield for Norwich may be difficult but, in the long-term, you'd fancy the Canaries to secure promotion to the Premier League sooner than their Yorkshire competitors.

Whilst Huddersfield do sit fourth, seven defeats already this term identifies their vulnerabilities and there's many in the chasing pack of have lost less matches.

Jordan Rhodes

Middlesbrough v AFC Bournemouth - Premier League - Jordan Rhodes

The name on the lips of many Championship sides looking to improve their goalscoring ranks in January, Jordan Rhodes hasn't had things go his way in the Premier League with Middlesbrough as the arrival of Alvaro Negredo in the summer has limited the 26-year-old to just six appearances.

Rhodes is desperate for first-team football and also craves to be the star striker within the side - and Norwich can provide both.

With current top-scorer Jacob Murphy having just six goals to his name, you wouldn't expect it to take Rhodes long to propel his name to the top of Norwich's scoring charts.
