League Two side Plymouth Argyle are currently enjoying a productive season following the appointment of Ryan Lowe in the summer.

The Pilgrims have had to deal with relegation from League One in the past six months, as they look to bounce back at the first time of asking.

In this January transfer window, manager Lowe will have the opportunity to make any changes that he sees fit to his squad at Home Park, as Plymouth are in the middle of a battle for the playoffs.

Here, we take a look at three transfer priorities that Plymouth need to sort this month...

Sort out Moore's situation

Defender Tafari Moore has been scarcely used under Lowe this season, as the 22-year-old has made only two appearances this season and is yet to be used within the league.

It came to light in October that Lowe had made the former Arsenal youth product available for loan away from Home Park, and Lowe will now have to go around trying to find a suitable destination for the forward.

Moore has the potential to be a key part of Lowe's plans having been used 18 times in all competitions by Derek Adams, but the defender appears out of favour with the new Pilgrims manager.

Sign another midfielder

Plymouth doesn't have the greatest squad depth in the centre of midfield, and Lowe may feel that he has the room to add another bustling midfielder to the pack.

Antoini Sarcevic, Joe Edwards, Conor Grant, Callum McFadzean and George Cooper are all able to play in the middle of the park, with the latter being in on loan.

Another central midfielder who is able to play a box-to-box role as well as provide competition for the current Plymouth contingent could spark a new lease of life into the midfield and prevent any complacency.

Recall Ashley Smith-Brown

The left-back, who can also feature at right-back, was sent out on loan to Oldham Athletic for the season, but he has only made nine appearances across the last five months.

The 23-year-old would be better off being recalled to Home Park and Lowe then trying to find him a loan to the non-league circuit, ensuring that he gets the game-time he needs to try and develop his game.

Having been a regular at Plymouth last season, the defender will have ambition to be playing regularly in the EFL, and could even be utilised by Lowe himself during the second half of the season.
