Derby County are currently finely poised for a tilt at automatic promotion into the Premier League, with Paul Clement's men currently occupying a third place spot in the division, just two points behind the team in second.

It is the ex-Real Madrid coach's first season as manager of the club and he appears to have really got the club firing, with the Rams only being beaten twice throughout the campaign so far.

Having already spent a hefty amount of money on recruits in the summer, talks have turned towards the January transfer window between the manager and the club's hierarchy, with the Rams desperate to reach the top flight.

Here Football League World's Lee Clarke takes a look at THREE potential recruits that the Rams could pursue from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.....

Ryan Mason

mason

The central midfielder burst onto the scene last season but injury issues have meant that his nine appearances so far during this campaign, have come mainly from the bench.

Mason is at the age where regular football is a necessity and a move to the Rams could be a nice fit for all parties.

The Rams have been missing the influential Will Hughes since the opening day of the season, with no indication as of yet as to when he will make his long awaited return.

Clement may look to bolster his midfield and the signing of Mason would be seen as a real coup.

Alex Pritchard

pritchard

It had been anticipated that this season would be a breakthrough campaign for highly-rated youngster Pritchard, but an ankle injury suffered in pre-season scuppered those initial plans.

With the 22-year-old set to step up his recovery with a return to training in the coming weeks, it is very likely that Spurs will look to send the youngster out on loan.

He was instrumental for Brentford last season and netted 12 goals as the club sealed a place in the Championship play-offs, boosting his own profile in the process.

Should the club opt to send their asset on loan the list of potential suitors would be endless, but given the Rams' league position, a move to the East Midlands is likely to be an attractive one.

Tom Carroll

England Under-21 international Carroll spent last season on loan at Swansea City and played 13 times in the Premier League for the Welsh club.

His first-team opportunities back at White Hart Lane have been limited so far and he has featured just twice during the current campaign.

Should he become available there would be Premier League interest no question, but with the Rams looking to strengthen ahead of a potential return to the top flight, a permanent deal for Carroll could be an attractive one.
