West Brom completed the signing of Kyle Bartley earlier this week as Darren Moore looks to strengthen his defence after high-profile departures.

Former captain Jonny Evans has moved on to Leicester City for a very modest £3.5m fee after his relegation release clause was met by the Foxes.

Additionally, long-serving defender Gareth McAuley was released, whilst there is strong interest in Craig Dawson who is desperate to leave The Hawthorns.

Therefore, it was vital that the Baggies strengthened defensively and they moved quickly to land Bartley who has impressed at this level before for Leeds United.

The 27-year old is a well-known figure to Championship fans but here we share three things that you may not know about the player...

Bartley came through the ranks at Arsenal although he didn't make an appearance in the league for the Gunners.

However, he did play a senior appearance for the side, on the biggest stage of all. Bartley made his debut under Arsene Wenger in a Champions League clash against Olympiacos.

Despite only playing 30 games for the Glasgow giants seven years ago on loan from Arsenal, Bartley is a very popular figure north of the border.

His aggressive style and no-nonsense approach went down well with Gers fans and he was involved in some ferocious games against Celtic.

After leaving Arsenal in 2012 presumably in search of first-team football, Bartley moved to Swansea.

Yet, he struggled to establish himself as a regular for the Welsh side, playing just 21 times in the league over his six years. Once again he had to go out on loan, to Birmingham and Leeds, to play each week.
