Nottingham Forest secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season on Saturday, picking up a 2-0 home victory over Wycombe Wanderers in the Sky Bet Championship.

Lyle Taylor's brace fired the Reds towards only their third league win of the campaign, signing off before the international break in the best possible way.

Taylor nodded in at the back post on 28 minutes following Cyrus Christie's delicious cross, and a fine run and solo effort in the second-half secured the three points for the Reds.

Chris Hughton's side still sit 20th in the Championship table, but results and performances have definitely improved since the 61-year-old took over, and he will be hoping for more of the same after the break.

FLW's George Harbey was live at the City Ground to see Forest defeat Wycombe, but here's three things you may have missed at the weekend...

Taylor and Akinfenwa's warm embrace

As both teams made their way out on the pitch for the pre-match warm-up, Lyle Taylor and Adebayo Akinfenwa found each other in the middle of the pitch and had a warm embrace.

The pair played together at AFC Wimbledon, forming an impressive strike partnership as Neal Ardley's men won promotion from League Two in 2015/16.

Taylor's goals proved decisive for Forest at the weekend, but Akinfenwa caused serious problems when coming on as a substitute in the second-half, coming close with two headers.

After the game, Taylor praised his former teammate for the way he caused 'carnage', with his physical prowess and presence up top proving to be a threat for the Chairboys.

Stewart nearly left with egg on his face

Wycombe defender Anthony Stewart was nearly left red-faced in the first-half shortly after Forest's opening goal.

The visitors were frustrated after being dominated in the opening half-hour, and Stewart was clearly annoyed.

After conceding a throw-in, the defender kicked the ball at the advertising hoardings in frustration, with the ball rebounding straight into the hands of Taylor.

Taylor was quick to react and took a quick throw-in, with Stewart out of position. He played in Guerrero down the line, and following a dangerous run, the Spaniard won a corner which Forest came close from.

If Forest had scored from that, Stewart would have looked rather silly.

Mighten in the stands

As is often the case shortly before kick-off, the likes of Joe Worrall, Fouad Bachirou and Tyler Blackett all took their seats in the Peter Taylor Stand, with the trio currently out injured.

Interestingly, though, Alex Mighten was among the players to take their seats ahead of the game, with the winger failing to make the squad.

There has been talk on social media surrounding Mighten and the winger potentially being ruled out with injury, after he posted a picture of himself lying on a bed in the physio room on Friday.

His presence in the stands on Saturday only hints at that, too.
