Marcelo Bielsa has transformed Leeds United into a side looking capable of promotion at this early stage of the Sky Bet Championship season.

Leeds have picked up 14 points from their opening six fixtures of the season, with Bielsa’s side now considered amongst the favourites for promotion back to the Premier League.

Spearheading Leeds’ early season success has been Kemar Roofe, who has shown real signs of improvement under Bielsa.

The 25-year-old has been used as a striker, winger and No.10 during his time at Leeds, but Bielsa has made Roofe the focal point of his attack, with the forward excelling.

In six appearances, Roofe has four Championship goals, with the striker currently keeping Patrick Bamford on the sidelines.

Here at FLW, we take a closer look at Roofe’s early season form, identifying THREE things we have learnt about the forward during Leeds’ strong start to the season…

Roofe has been used on the wing by many of Bielsa’s predecessors, but he’s struggled to have a huge impact.

In a role as a central striker, and with Leeds playing a slick brand of football, Roofe is thriving.

He’s leading the line with real purpose and showing why he should’ve been the man considered to replace Chris Wood last season.

Roofe has scored goals under previous regimes, but he looks a lot sharper in the box under Bielsa and is scoring a number of different goals.

His header and wicked left foot finish against Derby were of the highest quality, whilst his goal from a tight angle against Rotherham showed a burst of pace and a composed finish.

Add to that a poacher's goal against Swansea and it is safe to say that there's a definite improvement in his finishing.

When Bamford was signed the general feeling was that Roofe would be unable to keep the 24-year-old out of the starting XI for long.

However, he’s done exactly that and Bamford doesn’t look like his chance will come anytime soon.

Since Bamford signed, Roofe has improved and looks determined to keep himself in the starting line-up.
